Sorry to say I think you're right. I think the time has come for Big Phil to move on, and I hope he does well elsewhere (and has a good Euro08).

Plus the other fact that hasn't been mentioned regarding the Liverpool defeat is how he dissapeared back to Switzerland......personally though that was a disgrace.

You cant have a go at the guy over consistancy considering he dosent play every week. I agree he has made mistakes, but who hasn't this season at the back? He is young and will get better.
I feel Senderos will establish himself in the team once he plays every week.
For those who feel we should get rid, who do you replace him with?

Senderos falls into the same camp as Justin Hoyte. You can't say they'll improve as they mature, they've had that chance. He's 23 for crying out loud. He's had his run in the team, been given the chance to claim the CB spot as his own and failed. Time and time again. I'd keep him as back up, squad material and all that, but we need someone coming in who is a serious threat to Kolo and Willy. And that ain't gonna be Phil. Not now not ever, not even after a 50 game run in the team.

He has never had what you could call a "run" in the team unless you coulnt 6 or seven games in a row as a run. Which I dont.

So what would you call his "run" at CB in the lead up to the CL Final in 2006 and the amount of league games in between? I'd need to look up stats but far greater than 6 or 7 games, pushing into the 20's I'd wager. But he fucked that up.

What about the tail end of 2005 when he actually managed to bench Sol Campbell for the FA Cup final? A good run of games I'd say 15 or so. But he fucked that up too.

I stand to be corrected on those figures but I'm pretty sure I'm acurate.

The man has had his run and his chance. Not a Number 1 CB for me.

I'm not one for stats either but on both mentioned runs the club did get to finals. I know he's had very bad games, but 23 is young and he will only improve, hes put in some great performaces for club and country, and agree not a first team player yet but am convinced he will end up being a gooner regular. Also I have to say that this season Gallas fucked up far more times that Senderos.

agreed on the Gallas fuck ups maybe thats why he is not whinging about wining nothing this year. back about ten years ago big phil would been a perfect CB but the game is getting faster and faster

Mate I'm not trying to pick on you but that is some flawed opinion. If Senderos played as many times as Gallas this year do you think that would still be true?

Good point about the finals though, never looked at it like that. 8)

This is my point. As was mentioned in the first post it mentioned that senderos had started 13 sub for 2 and we didn't lose a single game. What would that figure be like if he had started more? You mentioned 2 runs in the squad that lead to and FA cup final, and the clubs first ever appearance in the champions league final.......not bad. And yes he did cock up against Liverpool in champions league (so did toure), but, we wouldn't have been there if we hadn't won in milan, a game which he performed brilliantly in.

But we only lost 3 league games all season. Are you alluding that with Phil in the first XI we'd be Invincibles again? Cos that where your thought train is leading me....

With Kolo and Willy as our main partnership we lost 3 games and accumulated 84 points. There can be no case for Phil dislodging either of those two based on the facts.

And I know you are not suggesting Phil got us through the Milan tie, when it was clearly Fabregas who dragged us into the Quater's. However every man that night in Milan played brilliantly. Even Eboue

Senderos had a good run in the first team during the winter. As soon as Toure got back from the African Nations Senderos was dropped. Anyone know what happened then? I think it was late February/Early March.

Arsenal lost 7 games all season and I believe Gallas started in 5 of them. It might be 6 but I can't remember.

I can think of three games in which Toure cost us badly this season. Both Milddlesbrough matches and the game against Liverpool. Those aren't the only games he messed up in but certainly the most rememberable.

Senderos and Gallas or Senderos and Toure make for a better centre back partnership than Gallas and Toure.
