The league cup is of no real interest to us even in a final !

And no interest to any club anymore, and I'm not just talking about premier league clubs - last night we made 10 changes whilst reading made 5On one hand I like the competition cos it USED to allow us see the future potential stars (back when we had a load of potential coming through
), but now it has degenerated into a competition that is no better than the Leyland daf cup used to be

In my opinion the future of this competition is bleak - if it was agreed from the start that the premier league clubs would enter their u-23's into it then it might be worth persevering with, but the fact that football leagues are even rotating in these games now suggests that this competition is fcuked and should possibly be scrapped

couldn't agree more Augie.
to be fair to the club the matches are now priced accordingly. I went last night and paid £10 - better value than I would have got if I had gone to the Middlesbrough game for example.
I can also understand why clubs like ourselves who are involved in a European competition would use more reserves than other clubs.
However what surprised me last night was why Liverpool made so many changes? There is a trophy at stake here and clubs don't seem to acknowledge this.
If finishing higher in the Premier League becomes more important than winning a cup then there is something very wrong with modern football.
The prize money of about £500,000 per place (maybe even higher now) dictates that an extra place or two in the league is worth more than winning the littlewoods / carling / rumberlows / league cup.Gunner Rob wrote:augie wrote:Herd wrote:Cant have it all , the clubs Objectives are 4th placed finish first Qualify for KO stage of cl 2nd ,after that they dont care its all gravy !
