As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
Sickening to hear the shit coming out of Pravda since the latest reaming, but not really a surprise
Just went out in the motor...Talksport ALL about Wenger..position untenable, surely he has to go blah,blah.... Jacobs is dumbfounded that Wenger is coming out and saying the club is in good shape?? Really is comedy gold.
Btw the bloke who Neville called an idiot is on later, wish I could listen to him

I'd better listen to that then
Good to meet you last night, mate. Your banner got in a lot of photos. Shame the other bloke was holding his end up so high
It does seem that the teflon fraud thinks 'special circumstances' absolve him of any blame or accountability, regardless of the justified criticism he is getting. 84 days to go, new two year contract on the table. The man really doesn't give a fuck

Hey Sean...that bloke is on now as I'm typing..listening to it on my laptop. Bloke saying Wenger treats us fans like idiots.Actually brilliant what he is saying. How can Wenger an employee dictate to his employers when he leaves?? Kroenke & Gazidis are sitting waiting for Wenger to tell THEM, instead of the other way around.
“I think he has to stay now, because he’s done so much for the club,”
“People are talking about his age, if he still has something to give and if he can influence people and they want a new manager to come in to bring fresh air.
“But on the other hand it’s very difficult to replace intelligence, and we all know he is a very intelligent man and manager and he’s still got the fire.
“With all he’s done for the club I think he deserves not to go on such a bad spell of results.
“He probably needs a bit more future with some new signings, and then next season could be a completely different situation.”
He was an arsehole at the Club, and he's an arsehole now.
Bob Bayliss wrote:Don't think so this time, sorry. Top four will be Chelsea, Tottenham, City, Liverpool. United are better equipped than we are to break in, but as I've said they are likely to prioritise elsewhere so I think we'll end up 5th by default.
I'd discount the Mousers tbh. They are even more inconsistent then us. I think they will drop away. The scum will collapse again, probably not to the same hilarious extent as last season but realistically they could be anywhere from 3rd to 5th.
For me the chav filth will win it at a canter,
citeh 2nd,
then The Arsenal, manure and scum in 3rd or 4th
with either manure, scum or mousers finishing 5th
and probably the mousers 6th.
My money will go on;
chav
citeh
manure
Arsenal
scum
mousers
And yep, we will grab that glorious 4th place trophy on the last day of the season.
I see where you're coming from but disagree.
Liverpool went into a slump in January when Mane was in Africa, they seem to have got over that and have no distractions so I think they will take at least as many points as us in the remaining games.
The Scum went into meltdown last year when what they thought was a real chance of winning the title eluded them. This year they know Chelsea have it in the bag. They will also probably have learned from last year. I think they will at least maintain their lead over us.
ManU, the suspension to Ibrahimovic will be a factor as will the Europa league. I think we will be involved in a fight to the last day with them for 5th & 6th.
Us, we have a track record of getting that top 4 spot come what may. Cazorla is out and Sanchez and Ozil are obviously not totally committed to the club or in the best frame of mind. I struggle to see where the creativity is going to come from to get the results we need.
I can see why you think Wenger can pull a Champions League spot out of the hat but I can't see this current side being galvanised to do what's needed this year.

More like to save his own Arsenal career!
The writing is now finally on the wall, high treason from Walcott to divulge player disharmony, his bum will be full of splinters!
On the bench from now on!...

It dawned on me last night that the winners get a Champions' League place, and that opens up an extra place for their country: Seville won last year so Spain got an extra place; had Liverpool won the final it would have gone to the Premier League. http://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsleague ... 65270.html
In other words, if United win the Europa Cup - and they are very hot favourites to do so - then the fourth place trophy becomes the FIFTH place trophy, and we would have to be out of the top five to miss out. So the bar is set even lower for Wenger to achieve the only performance target which Kronke/Gazidis care about.
The related danger is that Mourinho is driven by winning trophies, as any top manager should be, and that if/when United progress beyond this obscure Russian team he will put all of his eggs in that basket and take his foot off the gas in the Premiership. That would mean that we will end up in fifth even if the teams currently ahead of us stay there, unless Everton pulled back six points on us with one fewer game left to play, which won't happen.
All rather depressing, in the grand scheme of things.
I'm not 100% on the rule, but surely it's to ensure that the team that wins the Europa plays in the CL next year? Hypothetically, if Man Utd finished 15th and won the Europa, they'd go into the CL... it wouldn't just be tacked on for the team in fifth.
Assuming this is right, there's no scenario in which we can qualify for the CL by finishing fifth.

Thankfully it doesn't work that way. The winners will just take the other spot
