Amsterdam Tournament

Post by fridge »

Was it me or did I see an advert on sky sports saying Arsenal were playing in this tournament again this year, sure I did but I cant see how they'll fit it in and no official word from the club.

I know they done it last year but they have the Huddersfield game on the Weds after the Emirates and last year the Amsterdam was the weekend after the emirates!

Wonder when the club will confirm it?

Is the Huddersfield game not a "Arsenal XI" game?

Why are we always invited to this tournament? I figured that we'd stop doing it now that we have the Emirates Cup. Does it make the club that much cash?

I know they make a mil ot two from the Emirates Cup.

I don't think so. According to the arsenal site, we have away games to Barnet and Stuttgart, home games against Juventus and Real Madrid in the Emirates Cup, and then away to Huddersfield. No mention of the Amsterdam tournament.

I always felt that going to Austria kept out players away from the media which helped solidify the team. It's a shame Wenger isn't dragging them off to some where else just as secluded.

I reckon I'll make the trip over. Haven't been over there before; what better excuse can there be for a trip to 'Dam?

I went to the Amsterdam Tournament 2 years running in 2004 & 2005 - I think :?

Great place and good atmosphere but the Ajax fans can be a bit violent particularly at the Stadium terminal.

Still - that apart - a GREAT PLACE !

Rijksmuseum was excellent. Red light district was all 'see' and no 'do'.

One of these 'ladies' in the window looked like Tutenkamen's grandmother - brandishing a whip

Even most of the posters on here would have passed by on the other side.

I certainly did :D
