So was Henry in the last few seasons before he left.markyp wrote: ↑Sat Jul 29, 2017 6:38 pmdidn't see our best player wanting to leave from 98-2004 when wenger was the best, this demise and players attitude is because wenger is an arse well past his sell by date, you don't see the top players wanting out of city, utd, chelsea etc because they are gonna be after the big prizes,im sorry but this all comes back to TOFnut flush gooner wrote: ↑Sat Jul 29, 2017 10:26 amFunny how it always comes back to the manager. Why do Gooners these days have to blame everything on the manager rather than the player? Too many agenda's on this and other threads imo, and that is coming from someone who wants Wenger out.
We have had protracted transfer saga's for years, remember Vieira and Henry every summer?
As for showing ambition, I would say adding Lemar to the squad plus a good Centre Back is probably our best summer in the transfer market for over a decade.
Going back to the player, it would be nice to have someone who identifies with what being an Arsenal player means. In the current first team, there are very few.
As I said agendas......

Re: The Fake News Summer Transfer Thread
You say you want Wenger Out and then ask why people blame him for everything. Simple, he is involved in every aspect of a club that has underperformed for years. Who else should be blamed? If, for example someone else was in charge of the transfers or wages or training or tactics then they could be held accountable, but there isn't - Wenger is in charge of everything. If you haven't come to that conclusion, why do you want him gone and please don't mention Brexit?nut flush gooner wrote: ↑Mon Jul 31, 2017 3:23 pmI explained that to you when I posted a reply to you previously. If wanting the best for your club is an "Agenda" then I plead guilty.

You kind of get fed up of how crap we are in the transfer market. Here's an idea instead of going back to Monaco with 5 Million increases to get turned down, pick up the bloody phone and ask them how much do you want for Lemar. My guess is about 70 Million.
Pay the money and get the player.
Instead of hanging on to dead wood accept lower offers so the wage bill can be reduced and the lower offer will help pay the wages of these players by the buying club.

Agreed 100%. But that would involve the person doing our transfer dealings having a sense of pragmatism and... oh, hang on...supergeorgegraham wrote: ↑Tue Aug 01, 2017 7:53 amYou kind of get fed up of how crap we are in the transfer market. Re: The Fake News Summer Transfer Thread
This is normal for Arsenal and has plagued us for years ,but the first time I've seen the press comment on it !Arsenal exodus
07:20: Arsenal's hopes of clearing their squad of unwanted stars have been disrupted by players refusing to take a wage cut, according to the Daily Mail.
The Gunners have several players surplus to requirements by Arsene Wenger but are struggling to sell them and get decent fees.
Kieran Gibbs, Mathieu Debuchy, Carl Jenkinson and Lucas Perez are free to leave this summer but have not been able to agree deals with interested clubs.
While the likes of Jack Wilshere and Calum Chambers have also been told they can exit the Emirates if a suitable bid is made
Gibbs in on 60 k per week
Jenkinson is on 45 k
Debuchy 70 k
Lucas Perez 40
Wilshere on 85 k a week
Not sure abourt Calum think its low !
We will have to give all but perez and calum away !
Re: The Fake News Summer Transfer Thread
The only way we will get rid of the deadwood is by paying up their contracts. No one in their right mind will pay them what we are. One of our players (might have been Chambers) even said as much.supergeorgegraham wrote: ↑Tue Aug 01, 2017 7:53 am

Sanchez looks like he's made a swift recovery - I guess he wouldn't pass the medical at City if he was ill

Re: The Fake News Summer Transfer Thread
Ideally we'd offer Sanchez a two year deal with a realistic buy out clause for a foreign club if we don't win the PL this season.
