THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

After Anfield and Stoke and the transfer window I was nearly convinced that the end was nigh...The Sunday Supplement last weekend was another breath of fresh air with the journalists finally admitting where the problems really lies.
But fast forward to Wednesday/today and the AKBs are resurfacing on social media..The international break has taken the heat of the fraud to a degree and his loyalists are finding their voices and keyboards again..
They are confusing loyalty to the team/club with unconditional love for Wenger...The resistance isn't going away lightly.
I think a lot of people underestimate the resilience of AKBs and their die hard cultish behaviour. Strangely a lot of them are old school Gooners who will tell you it was much worse in the 60s and 70s. They don't see the distinction between supporting the team and supporting the regime. What's worse, they will tell you they see the need for change but won't do anything about it.
I wonder how many of those old school Gooners you mention were actual proper Gooners going to games every week back in the 60's and 70's, or are just blokes that liked Arsenal and then later in life made enough money to buy an ST and jumped on the Premier League bandwagon...? I wonder because it was old school Gooners in 1966 that protested and boycotted en masse until the Board sacked Billy Wright.
A lot of them will tell you they've held STs since the 60s. During the protests, it were the older heads who tried to disrupt things the most. Hard to tell how many of them were Skysports welcome aboard fans.

Press reports that Sanchez "facing a frosty dressing room and will have his work cut out to win back his colleagues"?? Really.....this giant among pygmies now has to suck up to Wenger & his serial loser adopted sons?? I would just tell them look...I'm here but I'm leaving, if you want to play me I'm here...if not, so what?? January is 4 months away :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf:
No such thing will happen. In 12moths he'll be off and I don't think he gives two fucks about feelings in the dressing room. If anything they should be rolling out the red carpet for him to save their arses.

Deffo press bollocks. He could care less than two shits what anyone in that dressing room thinks of him - that much was obvious on the pitch throughout the whole of last season. I just hope he doesn't continue the whiney bitch carry-on because that will just play into the Wenger-apologists' hands with a ready made excuse of "Sanchez was a bad egg in the dressing room blah blah fucking blah". The Ox fucking off because Wenger is not good enough is a fart in a wind storm because the Ox is not a very good player (potential, yes - but no delivery so far). Sanchez fucking off because Wenger is not good enough is far more damning and far tougher for the sheep to defend.

So he mentions the financial position before the squad position.
Tells you all you need to know about the priorities.

For what....??

Have you noticed how he always talks about the financial stability of the club. What has that got to do with success on the field?? The way I see it, the more money we have in the bank, the less talent we have on the field. How many managers start rabbiting on about financial stability when asked about football matters???

Wenger is a manager of sorts, one that has completely taking over the company that employed him, without actually buying it out, BUT he is NOT a football manager.

PRICK!!

Yes that's the whole point. I can't work out how much money we have but Mourinho of all people said something correct. United did their buisness early before Neymar went for 198,000,000.
He said Lukaku would have cost them double after that. So by waiting again to the last day we lost our chance of a replacement for Sanchez in Lemar instead of offering around 70 Million early on in the window.
With these prices even if we are loaded we will struggle to compete in any window unless we have a change of owner.
Our self funding policy is dead in the water due to an incompatant board and manager who missed so many chances in so many windows to keep the money in the bank which after this window is worth a lot less.

Every time Wenger opens his bloody mouth I hate him more. Pseudo intellectual bullshit time and time again :banghead:

On the day he finally goes I'm going to do a lap of the new stadium in my underpants. What a joyous day that will be . . . . . . .

I stopped paying attention to anything Wenger says many years ago. It's a wasted emotion. Intellectual capacity and common sense are two different things. He lacks the latter and hides it very well.

Normally I ignore him and rush to switch the TV off as soon as he appears. But I read the text of his press conference this morning and - - - - what a pile of bullshit.

How does he keep getting away with the crap that comes out of his mouth?

Speaking to reporters today, the 67-year-old coach was asked to comment on the growing frustration amongst fans at the Emirates.

"You [the media] work very hard to get our fans on our back." said Wenger. "And you do that very well.

Classic Wenger....

Being in a 'good financial position' is such an empty comment - it doesnt mean anything. Every club is in a healthy financial position. Why are our finances so much better than anyone else? Wenger always talks about how clubs need to be careful, and would use words like bankruptcy and ruin. Yet it never happens. The folding or financial ruin of clubs seldom ever happens. Leeds United are the example yet that was decades ago. Lesser known cases involve Portsmouth, but other than that, there are few cases.

Managing the clubs finances is nothing to be proud of - every fuken club does it!!! yet Wenger seems to think he is some sort of Warren Buffet finance whiz simply because he has a say in the clubs accounting and the club stays afloat. Its like wanting credit for putting your socks on - its not a big deal - hundreds of clubs across Europe are in healthy shape.
