Does anyone remember about 4 years ago when a lot of you on here were complaining about being bored of consistently finishing in the top 4, qualifying for the champions league?
Remember when the few were saying it won't last forever and they were consistently slated and called AKB's but they knew it wouldn't last forever as that's how football works.
Remember people wishing that we lose, get out of cups and mocked the team for actually winning trophies. Well, this is what you wished for, you happy?
Stop crying on national radio about how poor we currently are. It happens, it's football, no one has a divine right to be at the top forever.

Fans arent crying on national radio cos we are so poor ........ fans are crying cos they dont feel that there is any hope for the future

Slides like we are on dont happen overnight - this decline has been happening for years and many of us have said so. People like you and wenker have put us where we are cos you tried to sell the club short saying that we should be happy with what we had. We support The Arsenal and believe 100% that, even in failures, we should have the ambitions to be the best. Accepting that top 4 was the pinnacle for us was a loser mentality transferred from the manager to fans like you, and it disrespects the history of our club and the people who made us great long before this french c.unt dragged his arse out of the footballing backwater that is japan

Whilst we are talking about getting what you wished for, shouldnt we be saying that to you and not the other way around ? You (and many more like you) were preaching loyalty to an arrogant outdated manager, and that loyalty has now been rewarded by a decline that hasnt been seen for decades
I'd like you to find where I've said wenger must stay in any post in the last 6 years

Tbh I don't think there are that many that miss it mate. It was tedious as hell watching the same failures every year... thus the term Groundhog Season.

The difference now is Wenger has more than done enough to warrant actually being sacked and still he has a job. We are the 3rd biggest club in England and one of the biggest clubs in the world and he now has us scrapping out around 6th to 4th place... but hey we all know that.

I take your point that you have never defended Wenger. I'd say you've been a lukewarm advocate of change. But suggesting those of us who explicitly campaigned for his removal are now feeling some sense of remorse because our prophecy of doom has fully materialised as we knew it would if he remained is bizarre logic. If anyone should feel regret, it is those who knew what would happen and did bugger all about it. Does the cap fit, Nos?......try it on for size.

To suggest that we are in any sense less patient than Arsenal supporters of previous generations is nonsense. No previous manager, however successful they had been, was given 7 or 8 years of decline under his watch before fans demanded his head. It never got anywhere near that stage - Bertie Mee retired 5 years after the first double, Terry Neill was sacked and George Graham "bunged" out by the board at the first whiff of a sustained dip in results. Today's generation of Arsenal supporters have been far too tolerant and this has made it easy for Kronke to keep Wenger in place as a glorified accountant.

You have (until recently) been frequently in wenkers corner, so you cant claim to have wanted him out.

Either way, in the highlighted line you ask us "are you happy", and by very definition the implication is that you are saying that you were not one of wanted him out and are pointing the finger at others. Personally I am quite comfortable in my position - there are very few on here who have wanted him out as long as I have (gus used to be my allie  ), and I am on record as saying that I would accept any circumstances to get shot of the c.unt

It still all comes back to my original point though, the one's that you are pointing the finger at are the one's who have actually been proven right by our decline, and the premise of your post is actually back to front :?

I can't speak for anyone else, but i don't miss being in the champions league. Imagine being in a competition that starts in September, but you know by the following March that you will be out - and in our case, usually in humiliating fashion. We haven't progressed beyond the last 16 stage since 2010. I have also resented the idea that simply qualifying for a competition is somehow an achievement.

Yes we did know it was going to happen. Yet we've had spells in each decade for the last 50 years that have been worse than this. I'm too young to remember battling relegation with a very talented side in the mid seventies. I do remember the dip in the mid-'80's and mid '90's but a majority of Arsenal supporters kept their dignity, that's no longer the case and that's what I find the biggest disappointment.

We were a laughing stock in the Champions League, in there making up the numbers. It was embarrassing hoping to avoid the good teams for as long as possible. The only way to stay in the tournament was to stay in the dressing room.

I remember well the mid 80s, mid 90s.I kept me dignity then because no matter how bad things got, we always had a goalie,a centrehalf, a bit of organisation. We could defend a set piece. We always had few players on the pitch who gave a shit and you could be proud of. And a Brady, or an OLeary, Adams,Rocastle,Davis, Merson etc. coming through to give you hope.I only read recently a bit about Kenny Sansom, I think he made the First Division team of the year 5 or 6 times in the 80s. There was never a time before that we didn't have at least one player at Arsenal that I would hate to see leave the club, and never before had the youth system gone to shit.

I don't remember anyone mocking the team for winning trophies?

As for missing the routine of top four and getting piped in the CL. I'm sure most of us on here are glad to get out of the endless cycle. I'm so bloody relieved we're nowhere near it, this year especially. Imagin THIS Arsenal team going to Barca or Bayern when we can't even turn up against Brighton.

I don't know markyp I thought you made your point quite well actually..... :D

But yeah I too was so sick of that whole predictable shit every season. And I too never said we should be winning everything every season, but we certainly should have been at least challenging for the title more often and winning a couple of them over that time. We also should have won at least one CL too. One CL final appearance in his 21 years is shameful.... given the players money and resources he's had.

I certainly don't want to get back into it unless it is with genuine intentions to actually win the thing - qualifying for financial reasons is for the owner, and qualifying for prestige is for the manager and players, but to actually have some positive impact and challenge is what the fans want

Exactly right and we could have done so, If Wenger had gone in 2014 (which itself was several years too late) and we had made a sensible appointment that summer - the way things turned out, we could have been champions in 2016 and might have been one of the English teams in with an outside chance of winning this seasons CL.

But we just plod on with Wenger because he has earned the right to choose when he leaves
