I'd take Fat Sam over Arteta.

people forget that Bolton played some good football under him with Djorkaeff, Jay Jay Okacha, Hierra, Campo, N'Gotty and Wilshire.

plus they were organized and hard to beat. he had our number - we won just 4 out of 12 games against them.

Plus it would be a massive fuck you to Wonga too

If/When this goes tits up, the pressure that will rain on gazidas will be like nothing he has ever felt before. Yes arteta is expendable and high risk, but make no mistake it will be gazidas that will be targeted when it goes wrong. Surely gazidas knows that being viewed as the man behind this appointment will result in him being the guy that will be held accountable by the fans ? As much as kroenke is despised by the fans, he cant be blamed for this appointment - it is generally accepted that kroenke over-ruled gazidas when giving wenger those new contracts and was rightly targetted for doing so, but arteta isnt his appointment and I am beginning to think that he was right not to trust gazidas's judgement or his motives.

I just cannot get my head around why gazidas would appoint arteta - yes he would have a trusted guy alongside in the power structure for the short term, but in the long term (when this fails) he will be ostracised and will probably pay the ultimate price for his decision. Gazidas is setting himself up for a massive fail in the first opportunity he has to show what he can do
You have to remember that Gazidis has a huge ego and thinks he knows best, all dictators do !
He wants an Empire and he's determined that nought shall stand in his way so Arteta is a perfect choice .
His mistake is that he thinks he knows what it takes to run a football club on the pitch,he doesn't.
He has probably realised that it wont take much to elevate the team from it's current position so he can hardly do worse than the Wenger.
If Arteta starts to fail however he will step right in and fire his arse double quick and get another in , and will be praised buy the press for acting speedily.
Like Wenger he has the hide of a rhino and can take the pressure.
I all makes sense to me !

I dont think it will get him any praise from the media, and I know that it certainly wont get him any praise from the fans. Even the star newspaper are already mocking the decision to appoint arteta, and are suggesting that it might lead to an sos call to wenger by christmas - do you think that the media will give him a pass on this bizarre appointment, when all and sundry are already saying how ridiculous it is ? If/When this goes tits up, I think that the fans will unite to call for gazidas sacking and he will happily be thrown under the bus by kroenke

You are right that Gazidis probably does think think that just about anybody could do a better job than TOF with a little bit of application. However have to agree with Augie that the press are going to have a field day on the whole club if Arteta bombs and gets the bullet. Talk about giving the press an open goal.

Tbh so would I

Fat sam (b**tard  ) would clearly be a short term appointment, but one who would at least make us more organised and defensively better while he is at the club. Arteta will come in and try to play more wengerball which will of course lead to more ineptitude

Jupp Heynckes is free.

he retired from Bayern. now that would be a good one year idea.

a good read this about how he turned Bayern around in 8 months :

I still dont get the thinking behind Arteta, all our rivals go for known names with at least some experience and some actual trophies to their names but our owners/board/CEO think we should go the complete opposite route.

Gazidis must know that this option will not go down well with a large portion of the fans, Sven and Raul are used to working with relatively big names and must also realise that an unknown is a huge gambit but yet all indicators seem to point to us going down this route.

It just doesn't make sense unless there really isn't the money available to meet the demands of the higher quality managers. We're a risk averse club and yet we are taking the biggest risk in recent years potentially appointing an unknown quantity and it could backfire spectacularly on the people implementing it :?

Fat Sam? Jesus Christ have a fucking word with yourselves ffs. I'm genuinely embarrassed for a couple of you.

I'd take Arteta over Fat Fuck Sam anyday. In fact I'd take Wenger back ahead of Fat Sam ffs. I'd take a dead fucking walrus ahead of Fat Fucking Sam and his abysmal record of spoofing his way into management jobs and then failing fucking miserably.

I liked rioch and was never happy with the way he was treated - ian wright felt he was bigger than the club and got him sacked, in a similar way to how the leicester players shafted ranieri :censored: :censored:

I have to admit that I lost a lot of respect for wright over that debacle, and that feeling lasts still
Fuck that horseshit ya bald bastard. Rioch was a fucking moron. He tried to get Wrighty to "improve" by studying Bolton clogger John fucking McGinley ffs. He should have been sacked om the spot for that alone.

Wrighty didn't get Rioch the sack. Dein always had Wenger in mind and Rioch was only ever a temporary appointment.
