I have to say I'm impressed if this is true :
Gazidis continued: "We created a long list of eight people. All eight were interested in the position. All eight took part in extensive interviews and none of them withdrew from the process. We were in a fortunate position to name our first choice.

"Our first interview was in April. our last was on the 10th may and we interviewed Unai in May. A formal recommendation to the board was supported by a 100-page dossier with a great degree of background information. All of the board members were energised and enthused by our decision."

Have to wonder if some really are Gooners and not people who f**ked down the Lane years ago.

Some good inspiring football will bring the fans together again, a title will help. Hell we even have people on here not totally happy at beating Hull in the FAC final under he who cant be named

I'm really looking forward to the new season, and a new manager finally, and hopefully with less of the boring poisonous tedious shite that some of our lesser posters have ruined this forum with.... but I have this nagging feeling that as soon as we lose 2 or 3 games on the bounce the usual suspects will be on here dribbling revisionist shite out of them and they'll be joined by a whole crowd of "I told you so" AKB mongs..... fuck me did we always have so many arseholes in our fanbase?
I don't think so...now that it's not Arteta I think our fans are genuinely excited. The Arsene, and not Arsenal supporters, I suspect, will be hoping he slips up so all the "be careful what you wish for" crap, can be dusted off.

But fortunately for him, to surpass Wenger's last 2 seasons, this last one especially, is not going to be that difficult is it? Just tighten up the defence alone and we'll be back in CL.
I think that 99% of AKBs don’t have an agenda and want Arsenal to just be competitive. The fan base have to pull together now, I don’t expect top 4 next season. I would rather it was a nice surprise.

If you look at the teams above us only Chelski are really vulnerable, but you know they will throw a shedload of money at the problem. Then it’s the spuds, they have to keep their best players happy but as things stand and I hate to say this, their first eleven is better than ours.

City and Pool are the two teams that will fight out for the title next season imo, and Maureen will bore us all shitless again but get the results required for another top 4 place.

For us, we need defensive stability first and foremost before we start to have any ambitions. Our best route for CL qualification may well be winning the Europa League next season, and we have a manager that is quite good at that!

No chance - they will have to spend a load of money to become title challengers next season, and I doubt if they have access to the type of money we are talking about. The meeja have whipped this victims team into this fabled "one of the best in the world teams", but the reality is that they only finished 4th in the league, and only finished 5pts ahead of the chavs who had an appalling season.
The victims front 3 will surely never have another season like this one, and it has to be recognised that when ings and solanke are your back up strikers, then you know that the depth in that position is poor and even one injury for a decent length of time will hit them hard.
It is a point that seems to be globally ignored, but is there a worse midfield around than theirs (excluding us of course) ? Look at the players they have in there and you will see a mix of average and shit players, and keita on his own wont fix that.
Most people accept that there defence has improved in recent months, but they still need a huge injection of quality into the defence and especially in the keepers department.

Pool are a goalkeeper away from a serious title challenge, Alexander Arnold has saved them a fortune in the transfer market. So has Andrew Robertson. On their day they can beat anyone, some of the less inspiring results this year have fallen around the CL matches they have been playing. They matched city over 2 very high-pressure games in all departments not forgetting owned them in the league game, just a bit more consistency required where they drop points for banker games and they will challenge I am sure.

Still walking around with a boner here.
Whilst having very little knowledge of the man, I'm encouraged by what I have read about his previous successes, and from what he said in his interview. Fair play to him for speaking in English. I respect him already.
Interviewed in April to begin with?
Onwards and upwards

reading his comments about the style of play he likes, I think he will replace Ozil with a Freddie or Alexis type player - someone who can finish a move but gets stuck in as the first row of defence.

I think the front three will be PEA, Miti and one other.

Fucking Gazidis what a bullshitting lizard! Emery was NO ONE'S first choice - not Gazidis', not the board's, not Kroenke's, not the media's, not anyone on here.

Don't get me wrong I'm now thrilled we got him if the alternative was an inexperienced Arteta but let's not fucking pretend he was ear marked for the job by football genius Ivan fucking Gazidis. How fucking retarded and naive does he think we are ffs?

I meant the selection process. of course they are going to say he was #1. that's just politics.

Went AFC website to see what they said etc, since I let my membership go because I didn't want to give any money to the regime, I was unable to 'log on' and play the official interview, but there were a few printed quotes from the interview with the media...and I have to say I really like what he is saying, a few things stood out for me...

This is what he told the media:

on his style…
In my career, I [have been] very demanding [on] myself. I want people here who are demanding also, and players who are demanding also. My idea is to be protagonists. We play against all the teams with this personality. The history here is a team that love playing with possession of the ball. I like that personality, I like these protagonists with the ball. When you don’t have possession, I want a squad that are very, very intensive with the pressing. The two things are important for me to be protagonists: possession of the ball and pressing when you don’t have the ball.

Something the team under cuntslop they rarely, rarely did....

on Ozil’s importance…

He’s one of the biggest talents at Arsenal and I want talented players here. I want to spend time with all of the players, I want to speak to them on a level about how inspired I am and how excited I am to be here. I want the players to feel that as well. Above all, I think this is a wonderful project and we all need to give 100 per cent. That’s what I’m looking for, from every player and myself.

Sounds like the OziLazyCunt is gonna have a shock! :D

on Jack Wilshere…

Today, I want to speak about the team collectively. I don’t want to speak about the players individually today. All the meetings with Ivan, Raul and Sven… this team is a big team, big players, good players and we think we need to change little things. A few players. Today, I want to work, I want to speak about the squad globally.

Ohhh! Yussss ... Music to my fuckin' ears!

on his immediate priorities and targets…

Now it’s you! All the conversations and all the meetings with Ivan and the people who work here it was very important to give me all the information for the club. After, I want to know how we will [improve] this squad. I know all the players and I think all the players are very important. All the players, who I want, I will be with them this way, but I want to speak with all the players individually. I want to speak with them face to face.

Ohhh! What I would give to be a fly on the wall when he sacks some of the snowflakes :D :barscarf:
