John Cross was gutted about Emery  He's been calling Arteta for weeks and the Gazidis thing about 'those who know, didnt talk' etc gave Cross a rocket

My missus watched that press conference with the rest of us, and she thought that line was the best response she ever heard

John Cross is a fucking idiot who as we know has been living in wenker's pocket for far too long. While Gazidis remains a slippery fucker the fact that he is giving wenker's old establishment a good kicking is proving rather fun to watch. Happily stamping on Cross' fingers as he desperately tries to hold on to any links at the club, but all his old pals are gone and it's killing him - back to obscurity for you JC. As part of his pathetic pro Arteta campaign I see he managed to get a couple of quotes off wrighty which he then turned into a piece making it look as though wrighty was having a pop at the club.

Interesting snippets in The Times. Emery is especially determined to improve Arsenal at set pieces. ‘Arsenal players can expect an intense month of drilling in set pieces, making Arsenal more of a threat when attacking corners and free kicks and more effective in defending them.’
Unai Knows :barscarf:

not that any of this wasn't obvious to anyone who has watched or played football regularly.

I'm not sure about last season's defensive performance at set pieces, but a commentator said we were at the top of the league for goals scored from corners, which is surprising if it's true.

What difference does it make if he's not fluent in English? Over half the squad isn't fluent in English, and that includes the British born ones.

Jonathan Liew is a complete cretin

Also a scum fan

He had the cheek and utter lack of respect to use Henry Blofelds retirement from TMS as a base for an attack on Blowers as he was white and old and wasn’t any good and only had the job as he was white and posh.

That really cooked Liews journalism career as he is very much persona non grata with many sports editiors now

nice to see mertesacker's got a whole wall devoted to him in the injury center
Diaby must have a room dedicated to him. Must admit that was a bit odd seeing that. Not being funny but the BFG ain't the greatest defender we have had this century.

I'm really looking forward to the new season, and a new manager finally, and hopefully with less of the boring poisonous tedious shite that some of our lesser posters have ruined this forum with.... but I have this nagging feeling that as soon as we lose 2 or 3 games on the bounce the usual suspects will be on here dribbling revisionist shite out of them and they'll be joined by a whole crowd of "I told you so" AKB mongs..... fuck me did we always have so many arseholes in our fanbase?
I don't think so...now that it's not Arteta I think our fans are genuinely excited. The Arsene, and not Arsenal supporters, I suspect, will be hoping he slips up so all the "be careful what you wish for" crap, can be dusted off.

But fortunately for him, to surpass Wenger's last 2 seasons, this last one especially, is not going to be that difficult is it? Just tighten up the defence alone and we'll be back in CL.
I think that 99% of AKBs don’t have an agenda and want Arsenal to just be competitive. The fan base have to pull together now, I don’t expect top 4 next season. I would rather it was a nice surprise.

If you look at the teams above us only Chelski are really vulnerable, but you know they will throw a shedload of money at the problem. Then it’s the spuds, they have to keep their best players happy but as things stand and I hate to say this, their first eleven is better than ours.

City and Pool are the two teams that will fight out for the title next season imo, and Maureen will bore us all shitless again but get the results required for another top 4 place.

For us, we need defensive stability first and foremost before we start to have any ambitions. Our best route for CL qualification may well be winning the Europa League next season, and we have a manager that is quite good at that!

No chance - they will have to spend a load of money to become title challengers next season, and I doubt if they have access to the type of money we are talking about. The meeja have whipped this victims team into this fabled "one of the best in the world teams", but the reality is that they only finished 4th in the league, and only finished 5pts ahead of the chavs who had an appalling season.
The victims front 3 will surely never have another season like this one, and it has to be recognised that when ings and solanke are your back up strikers, then you know that the depth in that position is poor and even one injury for a decent length of time will hit them hard.
It is a point that seems to be globally ignored, but is there a worse midfield around than theirs (excluding us of course) ? Look at the players they have in there and you will see a mix of average and shit players, and keita on his own wont fix that.
Most people accept that there defence has improved in recent months, but they still need a huge injection of quality into the defence and especially in the keepers department.

I am with you 100% augie on this paragraph.

It will be good to focus on the football and team for a change, especially if a few of the posters drift off in to the sunset.

This might well lead us to the good times like when GG and AW both first landed at the club, how times have changed mind, I hope Emery is afforded the time. Make no mistake he will require 3-4 years in my mind to take the club in to the top 3. The buying power of Man U, Man City and Chelsea mean we will be effected to whom we can buy, that said it doesn't stop AFC under covering hidden talent from home & aboard.

Liew is correct, what Arsenal need is a manager who is fluent in six languages. That manager could get his message across to players of any nationality and obviously it would make the team successful. A manager like that could dominate European competitions for years.. Oh wait ,we had such a manager...........Liew is a crunt then isn't he ?
