Even Unai Emery is not Unai Emery in disguise. He's Arsene Wenger in disguise.......Jock Gooner wrote: ↑Wed Oct 23, 2019 4:17 pmAre you Unai Emery in disguiseDB10GOONER wrote: ↑Wed Oct 23, 2019 3:53 pmGood.Jock Gooner wrote: ↑Wed Oct 23, 2019 3:52 pmI'm even more fuc.king depressed now

Re: OZIL No shows, Injury, illness ??
As much as I want Ozil gone I would start him in Europa and Carabao games simply to see if he ups his effort !

Forget the "effort" concept Herd. We have players that put in "effort". Thats how we end up with Torriera faffing around as a number 10. And looking hopeless. We need a creator. We need some guile and vision in the middle.
I'd play Ozil and see what he might still have. If he is not creating then hook him. But at the moment we have nothing in midfield.
As much as we desperately need to sort the defence, we need to offload Ozil's 350k a week and replace him with a younger creative player as a priority. You can't win the modern PL without someone creating chances in the middle.

Tbh I think physically he should be fine, he's what, 30, Silva is two or three years older and he's still quality and as fit as anyone on the pitch.DB10GOONER wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2019 6:06 amForget the "effort" concept Herd. I think most of it is down to attitude and the rest down to poor tactics and not getting the best out of him.
Shame cos we don't look like scoring in most games these days, we're all huff and puff.

Re: OZIL No shows, Injury, illness ??
The only way a manager wins this type of war is if he is popular with the fans and wins things. Neither of those are relevant here, so Emery needs to find a way to manage Ozil properly. I think the fact that the player has reacted so badly to having Emery at the club tells us more about the manager's methods and abilities than Ozil's mentality.

While we obviously don't know what's going on behind the scenes there doesn't appear to be any sign of attempts by Edu or Sanllehi to try and smooth things over so maybe Dick has got these two in his corner.

I think you're probably right and I can't see any positive end to this battle. Either Ozil will see out the contract, perhaps go out on loan somewhere for a year or Emery will leave the club. Actually, now I think of it, both of those outcomes are fairly positive.Jock Gooner wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2019 10:29 amPerryashburtongroves wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2019 10:17 amThe only way a manager wins this type of war is if he is popular with the fans and wins things. You make a valid point

Re: OZIL No shows, Injury, illness ??
Ok maybe efforts the wrong word ,game perhaps would be a better word but if your Emry and u want him to go freezing him out completely makes more sense .DB10GOONER wrote: ↑Fri Oct 25, 2019 6:06 amForget the "effort" concept Herd. Raul is in Rauls corner and Edu is in his pocket ,they will do whatever they can to stay in their jobs so if the fans demand a sacrifice they will ultimately throw Emry to the wolves and the recently married Ozil wont give a shit about playing until he goes .
Im now of the opinion that a lot of the players are not behind the manager either and that might cause Josh to don the black cap sooner rather than later !

Let's be honest here and acknowledge that the fans were questioning ozil's mentality long before emery arrived, but le French cock allowed it to go on. It is convenient right now for the emery bashers to put this on him and call for ozil's return, but I will stake my bollox that it wouldn't take many games for those very same fans to start pelting down abuse at ozil as he shows the same performances as he has delivered in recent years
