Mid week Gallas flipped and missed a training session. Thuram is where? To take Nasri off was one stupid decision. Benzema should have gone off imo. Domenech is a fool for subbing a sub. He surely has pissed off each and every gooner off as we all wanted to see Nasri.
Luka Toni has been dangerous but he can't finish for shit. He will probably score in the 2nd half.
I hope Romania get something. I'm watching both games together and Romania have had a few good chances. Mutu has been dangerous so might get something. They deserve it. France and Italy have played shit in all the other games and it would be cruel on Romania to go out.

Yeah had the sending off occurred later on in the second half - Govou should have gone off. He didn't really get in to the game (or couldn't be bothered to). Benzema's curling shot was nice and I now see what all the fuss is about.aw wrote:Govou or Toulalain should have gone off imo.shimmy21 wrote:Domenech is stupid firstly he keeps an injured Viera and tells Flamini to go home. I'm thinking that way chippy. While teams like Spain & Holland glitter early on, the Italians have come back from the brink against Romania and are now building up momentum; classic tournament mentality. They also have the player of the tournament so far, for me, in Buffon.
It's not so much how you start, it's how you finish.

What a great save by Buffon against Benzema, I think that save confirmed Italy's win over France. Nice to see Gallas dominating in the air for France as well as he does for us
Now Toni and Gomes, they have loads of similarities. Tall, dark-haired and have both scored for fun in Bundesliga this season. But how many chances do they need to score in the Euros? They have been two of the biggest wasters in this tournament so far. I wonder why? Maybe, it's just so easy to get goals in Bundesliga
We thought Ade was a serial chance-waster but those two are in a different league
I don't think Holland throwing the game was ever in mind. Even though Van Basten decided to rest most of his team, how can you seriously expect the likes of Robben, Van Persie and Huntelaar to come onto the pitch without an intention to impress? A massive problem for van Basten now, Van Persie and Robben are looking fit and superb again but Kuyt is a player that has great stamina and really works for the team. Something tells me Van Basten will keep faith with the team that thrashed France and Italy.
Now Spain vs Italy in the quarter-finals. I don't why but I just think Italy will be the better bet to go through, even though they'll miss Pirlo and Gattuso immensely. Spain was brilliant in the last World Cup, winning their group with nine points. France had a terrible, stuttering start and finished second in their group. Of course, when you finish first in your group, you expect an easier match than France but...
And we all know what happened. I just think the same thing might happen with Italy. Spain must have some mental block about going into the semis.
So Domenech will be sacked soon, serves him right for not picking new exciting players like Clichy, Sagna and even Flamini. Why did they need Makelele and what did he do that Flamini wouldn't have done? Domenech’s set-up couldn't even decide whether Vieira would ever be fit or not. He went with caution and it didn't pay off. There was too much reliance on past-their-best Sagnol, Makelele, Thuram, Henry and to a certain extent, Vieira even though he was on the bench.

Haven`t heard much about any town centres being trashed by supporters whose team have lost either, although we haven`t got to the knockout games yet.khalid_red wrote:Nice clean tournament so far. No "England will definitely win it" and"Dirty foreigners are the reason we went out"![]()

Great win for Russia today
Zhirkov and Anyukov have been key to Russia's tactics so far, their runs down the left and right receptively give the team great width. The match against Holland should be brilliant. Two teams playing neat, passing football. My only concern about Russia is wasting too many chances, particularity Pavluchenko. The chances against Holland won't come that easily.

apparently highbury/green lanes was very 'lively' for a couple of hours after turkey beat czech republic. no physical damage but what some might call 'noise pollution'. imagine it will just be very quiet if they are eliminated.

Yeah, he is a more direct and lively version of Hleb, can play on the wings and up front. The interesting thing is that he is 27 so quite experienced and wouldn't be cheap so not sure if it's an "Arsene" signing but I'd love us to sign him.QuartzGooner wrote:Your boy Arshavin was on fire.khalid_red wrote:Great win for Russia todayZhirkov and Anyukov have been key to Russia's tactics so far, their runs down the left and right receptively give the team great width.
