The french kid has also represented his country at every level from under 16 up to under 20 btw

They said that about Sanogo the golden boy too .

I see that, but sonogo had a chance to prove that he could cut it at premier league level and clearly couldnt. I cant stress this enough, but saliba plays in a position where we have been on a good day average and on a bad day desperate, but he still hasnt been given a chance - that for me is a disgrace. If he gets a proper chance and isnt good enough then we sell him for as much as we can - I will wager that playing him him and selling him as a player that wasnt good enough, wont see us lose any more money than selling a player who was never even registered for a defensively shit team

for certain we signed one of the most promising and coveted young defenders in europe,

According to who ? The BBC reported :- Arsenal have beaten Tottenham to the signing of teenage defender William Saliba from Saint-Etienne for £27m,
Ok some reccomendation .
His agent Djibril Niang is fairly difficult to find out much about and apart from having another young kid playing in Italy there's not much on google about him.
When Tim Lewis came in Sanhelli was gone in seconds with a reported cloud and perhaps the club learned from the Graham affair and this time kept things quiet.
None of us know whether Saliba is the next Vincent Kompany or the next Igor Stepanovs we haven't seen anything to form an opinion.but it would seem that Arteta leans towards the latter and probably Bould was not impressed by his rash tackle at Plough lane .

Whichever way you look at things the club has had it's fingers burned during Sanhelli's era and I agree that Luiz , Mustafi , Sokratis and few others are surplus to requirement but they will be gone sooner rather than later .

We have a number of young players coming through some will make it others won't . I rather like the sound of this Irish ( Northern ) boy at Blackpool
Ballard who is getting promising reviews like this :- Northern Ireland manager Ian Baraclough believes Arsenal will be ‘delighted’ by the progress Blackpool loanee Daniel Ballard has made this season, as he told the Belfast Telegraph.

Maybe instead of lining the pockets of agents we should be looking in house first.
Ffs you're letting facts get in the way of a great conspiracy here, do you have the necessary authority for this

I remember being at a League Cup game at home to the Chavs where we got battered (0-5 I think) and he was up front - absolutely shite he was! Think he ended up at Dundee or somewhere at that level

Saliba is joining Nice on loan. No option to buy, Arsenal still very much see him as part of their future.

Arsenal are interested in a player-plus-cash deal for Norwich attacker Emi Buendia. Reiss Nelson and Joe Willock are some of the names mentioned according to the Independent.

Would you take him?

I would say that this time last year Saïd Benrahma from Brentford would have been viewed as a better player and he certainly hasnt set the world on fire with the shammers. From my (limited) knowledge of the guy he seems to play in the 10 and we already have smith-rowe that plays that position - in my opinion we need an 8 to play alongside partey and I would much rather go with expensive proven quality for that position this month, even if it meant that he would be the only purchase (and no bellend replacement :( ). I have always believed that good teams are built on solid defence, but it is the centre midfield that is the engine room of any team and our's is simply sub-standard. If (as expected) our bean counters and owners (cnuts) decide to go unproven (cheap), then at least go with a player for the 8 position - again, if it was my decision, torreira would be recalled this month, and ceballos and elneny would be gone (in an ideal world so would xhaka, but not very likely with this coach  )

According to the Mirror, Calum Chambers can depart this month, potentially on loan with a view to a permanent exit at a later date. #Arsenal https://t.co/6cVmhhTgki

Sounding more and more likely that Torreira will be recalled which is a plus for me - certainly compared to the 3 mongs we have playing that role currently. Think he and Partey would be an interesting partnership. I know Torreira has his faults and obviously having been signed by the previous manager, it's in the interests of the Arteta Fan Club to slag off everything he does, but if anyone here believes punting him out on loan and re-signing Ceballos on loan has been a positive, I know of a good clinic that would be willing to accept you as an inpatient

Smith Rowe can't be allowed to be the only no 10 in the squad. I wanted him in the side weeks ago but he can't be expected to play that role week in, week out in all competitions so another creator is sorely needed.

Don't hold your breath for a Bellend replacement. Remember we signed the Southampton reject permanently only this season - another stunning piece of business - so I'm sure the club think they've got the RB position covered

Whispers I am hearing is that arteta wants to recall torreira with a view to selling him straight away to an italian club to raise transfer funds :rubchin:

If the club and manager had their smart heads on, they would be planning for the coming seasons midfield with partey, torreira, guendouzi, smith-rowe, maitland-niles, some young players (Azeez, cottrell etc) and (hopefully) Aouar - it would allow the club to revamp the midfield by selling at least 3 players (xhaka, elneny and pillock) to buy just one (Aouar) and still be hugely improved

Ornstein: "Arsenal's big priority is slimming the squad down - getting rid of players who aren't playing and who aren't necessarily the best influences around the camp - while they are not playing, they're going to be disgruntled..."

.@David_Ornstein:

•Brandt one of several options.

•No expectation on part of Ozil or club that he'll be re-integrated.

•Arsenal has 'really big hopes' Saliba will be part of future.

•Arsenal aim to trim squad, get rid of bad influences.
