It has become apparent during this Turkey semi final that we are well rid of Lehmann!Kevinho wrote:Step wrote:For me the one guy that deserves an honour is MAD JENS.
Even if it's the Best Chewer of the tournament. The classic chewing keeper constantly urging his troops to calm down.Reminds me of Sep Meyer in the 70s both in looks and stature.
It's just beginning to hit me that we should have kept him on for just one more year.
Agreed. If there was any lingering doubt over Lehmann...tonight has put that well and truely to bed.QuartzGooner wrote:It has become apparent during this Turkey semi final that we are well rid of Lehmann!Kevinho wrote:Step wrote:For me the one guy that deserves an honour is MAD JENS.

Lawro is an arsehole. He kept banging on about how lucky the Germans were in this game. However when its Man Utd or Liverpool in particular, his favourite phrase is: "The sign of a great team is when they win whilst not playing well." (You've probably seen it on Lawro's predictions on the bbc site)
But when it comes to Germany, they are lucky...soo very lucky. Piss off Lawro. :awnker:
It just shows that even though they played shit football, they can grind a result. Turkey have gained all the praise and will get the headlines on the back pages tomorrow but look at the Turkey side...how many times have they come back from behind and how lucky were they to force a penalty shoot-out to go past the group stages?!? I'd say Turkey were lucky not Germany and Turkey do not deserve credit for outplaying the Germans, they deserve credit for being lucky. Germany struggled in this game for two reasons. 1. They didn't have a holding midfield player who was up to standard. 2. The two centre backs were aweful. Everyone else in the team played well (oh wait actually Lehman cocked up...
).
I need to see Klose's goal again after the storm took out the television signals but the short clip didn't show the build up or defensive cock up by the Turks.
The storm that took out the fan centre was sad as all those fans were

Shimmey, considering the amount of players Turkey had either injured or suspended, they deserve a lot of credit!shimmy21 wrote:I'd say Turkey were lucky not Germany and Turkey do not deserve credit for outplaying the Germans, they deserve credit for being lucky. Just out of interest....how were they lucky against the Germans?

100% at fault for the goal

Against the Czechs, I thought they deserved any luck they got. They pegged the Czechs in their own half for the last 15 minutes, and bombarded them with wave after wave of attacks....eventually, the Czech defence crumbled under pressure.shimmy21 wrote:Talking about there whole run in the tournament in general with that comment.g88ner wrote:Shimmey, considering the amount of players Turkey had either injured or suspended, they deserve a lot of credit!shimmy21 wrote:I'd say Turkey were lucky not Germany and Turkey do not deserve credit for outplaying the Germans, they deserve credit for being lucky. That's how I saw it.
Admittedly, they were lucky against Croatia though..although the injuries they've sustained over the last week have been so so unlucky...if that had happened to England, we'd be cursing our bad luck for the next 100 years

they started off with players injured, outperformed Switzerland and Czech's in the end but every game seemed to pick up more injuries.shimmy21 wrote:

Turkey should be a power to be reckoned with in the future, certainly set high standards for them with performances like that

And if reports are correct and David Villa misses the final through injury..then Cesc will surely startQuartzGooner wrote:Really looking forward to final, Spain's possession football versus Germany's direct approach.
Can see Germans getting early goal but Spain giving them real trouble from crosses.
