The Gunners have made a 70m euro (£58.3m) offer to Fiorentina for 21-year-old Serbia forward Dusan Vlahovic - which would see Uruguay midfielder Lucas Torreira, 25, move to the Serie A club on a permanent basis. (Gazzetta dello Sport)

That vlahovic's scoring record looks very impressive until you look at it closely and discover that 5 of his goals were penalties - I'm not saying that makes his record average, but it certainly does take some shine off it. Two seasons ago he scored 6 goals in 30 appearances, and while I accept he is young and might be only maturing now, history shows a whole catalogue of strikers who had one glorious year in the sun and then never delivered when they got their big moves. Even this season it is noticeable that he hasnt scored against inter, juve, roma, napoli or lazio, so most of his goals came against the "lesser teams"
It was just a copy/paste mate, I offered no personal opinion. Don't shoot the messenger!

The story is everywhere though Clummo - he is being championed as a great striker all over the place, and imo he is far too expensive a risk to take

Folarin Balogun now close to complete loan move to Middlesbrough as reported yesterday. Talks progressing with Arsenal, Gunners board prepared to accept. 🔴 #AFC

It’s just matter of time, as @RyanTaylorSport confirms. Also Maitland-Niles deal with AS Roma to be signed soon.

Well I guess we could say that at least arteta / Edu etc aren't just sitting on their hands, they are actively trying to move players out on lone.

Also the fact they have made a decent offer for the Fiorentina Striker Vlahvovic (sp?) sfor me says that Auba is definitely a Goner.

I hope we don't sign Couthino he would be surplus to requirements.

So are you saying that Edu is the loan arranger ?

Maybe worth looking at Kemo Sabe in the short term, from Tonto FC. ?

No to Courtinho from me

Think Isak is more likely than Vlahovic.

Also lots of noise about Bruno Guimaraes the Brazilian midfielder at Lyon, which sounds ike Edu’s cup of tea.

No to Courtinho from me too. He was great at Liverpool but has done fuck all since he left. He's had his day and we don't want another mega money earner biding their time at Arsenal.

In my opinion if Laca isn't going to be our main striker in the near future it is absolutely essential to get in a hold up player. I don't know much about Vlahovic or whatever his name is, but I do know that Calvert Lewin could play that role perfectly in this young team and offers the direct option which I'm afraid is needed when you go to the likes of Anfield, OT, Etihad etc. When Laca hasn't been there, the ball just comes straight back which is why we go under the pump for 20-30 minute spells and lose these games

I'm sure DCL would be priced very highly but which young striker isn't these days?

Of course a proper CDM rather than Clubfoot Clive would be great, but we all know he's so far up the manager's arsehole he'll still be a regular for years to come. Just need to hope Sambi gets sufficient chances to develop into the next big thing in that position and that Partey carries on recent form rather than the 18 months of gash that went before

Yeah, totally agree. A goalscorer would obviously be nice but an ability to hold up the ball and bring others into play is essential to get the best out of our attacking midfielders. A young Auba clone wouldn’t be a good fit.

DCL would be a great signing but insanely priced. I’ve only seen him a few times but Isak looks like he has a good all round game too. No idea about Vlahovic…. he’s 6’4” though so he’s quite a focal point.

Yeah Isak looked good in a bang average Sweden side - pace, strength and can play over the top or with back to goal. He would do nicely

To be honest, I find it better having a host of players who can weigh in with 10-12 goals rather than the over reliance we've had on Auba. If we brought in a Calvert Lewin or Isak, no doubt everyone would want to compare their goal scoring stats with Auba and I wouldn't for a minute believe they would be as good. However, if that target man can get 12-15, and ensure Martinelli, Saka, Smith Rowe and Odegaard are all chipping in with 8+, then I think its a healthier balance. Its no coincidence in my mind that those four have had better goalscoring returns since we had a proper target player up top.

When I think back to our best teams - not just the invincibles but '89, '91, '98 - there was always a group of players chipping in with those sort of returns

WTF? Apparently Roma will only be paying just over half of Maitland-Niles salary… and not even an option or obligation to buy! Are Roma taking the piss?

Arsenal will consider offers for Pablo Mari and Calum Chambers this window. Both players have struggled for game time and don't appear to be part of Arteta’s long term plans. [@SkySportsNews]

Who would people like as the new striker ?

Isak, Vlhaovic, calvert Lewin are the ones linked , think there was a guy in France as well or any other ideas ?
Not sure Gabi is a centre forward yet , and Flo needs the loan , right decision.
