We spent 120m in the summer. We are showing intent. I believe we haven't signed anyone because the players we identified are not easy options. Truth is signing good players isn't easy, especially in January. A lot of deals happen on deadline day. Im hoping we can sign either Wijnaldum or Melo, although both appear to be dependent on PSG getting Ndombele or Juventus getting Zakaria.

Im really hoping the deadline day actions happens, but there is part of me that thinks we will get no one. And it wouldnt be for lack of ambition - im positive Edu and Arteta really would have tried. But all the same its a failure if we miss out on top 4

Personally I can accept that to a point, but no proper club has a list of potential signings with only one player per position on it - the way the transfer market works (be it in January or the summer), is that if you cant get your first preference, then you go down to the next preference and so on. I refuse to believe that we cannot get a better striker than what we currently have. I refuse to believe that we cannot get a better centre midfielder than the swiss turd and the inexperienced sambi. I dont think that it is an exageration to say that the possibility of getting top 4 will not be as open in the coming seasons, and buying quality now might bring more money into the club next season, cos this team in it's present state sure as shit will not finish top 4.

Some people will try and excuse our lack of signings by throwing out the tired old cliche about being hard to sign players in January, and if that is their stance then that is up to them. However if we are not going to be buying anybody, then we should not be releasing players out on loan or selling chambers - some will argue that chambers contract was finishing this summer so we had to get money for him when we did, but does anyone believe that what we got for him will trump what we would have got for getting europa league or champions league ? We have 21 senior players (inc auba) and regardless of the strengths and weaknesses of chambers, the reality is that we cant afford to lose players and imo chambers would have done a job for us in the next few months. Make no mistake auba too will be gone in this transfer window - the great and powerful cone boy ( ) has shown what a tough man he is, and will banish auba from the club even though it leaves us nketieh as the main goal scoring number 9 in the squad :banghead: :banghead:

🚨 EXCL: Barcelona nearing agreement with Arsenal for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang loan until summer. Main issue to resolve is salary. Would be major saving for #AFC but no loan fee or buy option/obligation. No incoming deals close @TheAthleticUK #FCBarcelona https://t.co/D8Xj4gy7UC

Henry's goal return was worse when he signed for us.

Players like Henry only come along once in a lifetime .

Don't get your hopes up.
well said fella....

Sorry Wilson but that is pure sophistry, apologies to those who don't like 'big' words

We spent between £120-150 million depending on valuations on 6 players none of whom were truly PL proven and realistically that isn't a vast amount of money in today's climate.

Some of them have worked out well, some not so well. Let's be honest we haven't bought a truly 'big' name since Auba.
100% on the money Muzz. 8)

I’m not saying I want him at Arsenal but Arsenal have supposedly been watching Zakaria for well over a year……He’s arriving at Juve for a medical tonight for 2.9m! For that sort of money he would have been worth taking a punt on FFS!
It actually looks like we are not even interested in anyone. Crazy when you think there is an outside chance of 4th place (I think we’ll finish 8th again)!

Mousse Dembele (striker from lyon) went on loan to ath madrid last season - wonder would he be an option for us tomorrow ? :rubchin: He was an excellent striker when he was with celtic and fulham, and I wanted us to sign him two years ago
