Saka and Martinelli will be offered contracts in the summer. Rather than incrementally increase their contracts, just go right straight to 200k a week for both. Stop treating them like two young lads and treat them for what they are, our two best and most valuable players.

When PEA and Ozil were looking like leaving on a free we put the deal together to keep them. Just because it didn't work out, doesn't mean it was a failure. Getting PEA to sign on in 2020 was a coup, given he was at the peak of his game and could have gone anywhere in Europe. We went above and beyond and managed to offer him a salary big enough to keep him. The intent is whats important, not necessary the outcome.

We really need to close the door behind to the RVP, Sanchez, Nasri situations - that cant happen again. Granted its almost been a decade since RVP left, and 4 years since Sanchez left. We haven't lost any big name players lately against our will to Europe, let alone a domestic rival.

But Liverpools interest in Martinelli and Saka is real. Salah is as good as gone, FSG will not match his salary demands, and with his contract set to expire after next season, he will be sold this summer. So Liverpool will sell and get a fee for him. They may use that fee and bid for Martinelli/Saka. No major deals will be done until after the World Cup, so we should be looking to sign them both up after this season ends and prior to the World Cup.

I would love for Liverpool to lose Salah and we tie up Martinelli and Saka. I actually see finishing above Liverpool as possible over the next 2-3 seasons, perhaps as even as early as next season if things go right. They are ending a cycle. So many key players over 30 and the Salah era has half a season left.
Our best player is ESR by a country mile, top scorer and that's from coming off the bench a lot too, I read a piece about players who make the most impact in games stats wise, ESR was at the top.
He could be. One way to get all three of them in the team, is to move Martinelli down the middle, Saka on the left and ESR on the right.

Given the history this club has with converting wingers into strikers (Henry & RVP), why are we waiting. Especially considering Lacazette is about as sharp as a used butter knife. This whole notion of needing a player to hold the ball up is rubbish. I want forwards who can run in behind and run at the defence. Not forwards who play with their back to the goal.
So wrong. Martinelli couldn't play as a lone striker. Maybe as part of a front two but no way as the lone striker.

Wenger had a history of playing people in unusual positions in the belief of Cruyff's total football . Very few can do it but to shoehorn people in without upsetting his favourites their careers never reached full potential .
I know it will be a bit contentious but Lord Bendtner himself played as a winger ???
Just the goal against Tottenham when he came on as a last minute sub shows where he should have been played.
And asking him to run with the ball with the ball with his first touch in Paris showed where and when he should not have,
Going back a long way reminds me of Ramsey picking John Radford for England and playing him right wing . He spent all night putting in the crosses that he should have been on the end of.
It was when he started playing Bendtner on the wing that I fully realised the extent of his lunacy.

That was one of the funniest things I ever saw, a 6'4" winger with the pace of a three legged turtle, the vision of Stevie Wonder, and the first touch of a rapist.

But would probably be scoring regularly with all the crosses we put into no-one.

Mine was putting Freddie out wide. He was playing well through the middle and contributed with a few goals. Did not make sense at all.

Remember Paul Mariner playing centre half, think it was under Don Howe

Radford being sold to West Ham and not scoring in his time there....

We’re on the look out for one of him. Our scouts are scouring Europe and readying a £100m bid.

Really? Freddie played most of his Arsenal career starting from wide positions. It worked brilliantly 8) …. the biggest mistake was Freddie losing the magic red hair

I wouldn't put it past Edutard and Martinez-Lite to just re-buy Bendtner for that £100m, pay him £300k a week, and play him as a DM or a left back.

Apparently we could have sold Elnenny in the January window (£8 - £10 million) but thought he was too important at this point of the season!

When you consider Arteta's lovechild Clubfoot Clive will be missing for half the games with suspension, and given Partey's injury record....sadly he probably is important!! Sign of the Times sadly my friend
