Problem with that comment is that it suggests that fans are not allowed to criticise players even when it is merited - it is perceived on here that I am a huge leno fan, but the reality is that the last keeper we had that I was confident with was crazy jens (cue abuse from our midget mod ). In my opinion leno lacks that physical size and dominance needed in english football, BUT I do still believe that he was a safer and more consistent option than martinez who had one excellent spell in EIGHT SEASONS (he didnt set the world alight in any of his loan clubs either). Some fans point to his poty award at villa as proof that he is a quality keeper, but history has shown us that being a good keeper for mid level clubs like stoke (ben foster) or coventry (kirkland) or watford (david james) does not mean that you are a good enough keeper for top clubs cos there are intangibles like mental concentration etc that only come into play at bigger clubs

Anyway like I say, I feel fans should be entitled to air grievances at players rationally, and with that in mind I am still unsure of ramsdale and will say to you that his end to last season is what is freshest in fans minds, and he did not have a good end to last season and will need to kick on this coming season

Agreed and would also argue that hot streak may not have come if he was playing in front of fans.

Hasn't he been playing in front of fans at Villa then?? Despite what Augie says, he had a very good season there.

He started off ok but looked very shaky second half , a bit like Ramsdale.

And yet the Villa supporters, who watch him week in, week out and not just 5 mins on MOTD, voted him their player of the season. You, Augie and I can have our different opinions, but I suspect the Villa fans are far more informed and that we should probably listen to their opinion.

Ramsdale has also won two players of the season , we have the best keeper out the three imo.
It might also say a lot about the rest of their players.

As for Ramsdale, i like him.....yes as Retro says he is prone to shouting and high five stuff ...and is a bit manic...to be honest liked the Bob Wilson style brave, dependable, calm and assured

Growing belief now that Arsenal and City will strike a deal over Zinchenko. Nothing agreed yet, but discussions over a fee are ongoing and moving in the right direction. All parties working towards getting the deal done. Talks are going well.

Not sure about Zinchenko tbh. What role are we signing him for? He's not much use as a left back but would be an OK back up maybe.

In midfield he would be a huge improvement on Clive - a puddle of infected piss would be a huge improvement on Sir Pointsalot - but I believe he is more of an attacking midfielder rather than a defensive one, which is what we need.

Thought he was excellent in midfield in their play off win against the Scots last month and think he's being signed to primarily play in that position for us with the option to fill in for Tierney at LB when he inevitability gets crocked after 2 games.

Have to agree with that. Anything that shoves Clive out the door is a good thing for Arsenal. He has plenty of PL experience too so no prolonged "getting up to the pace of the PL" settling in period required either. Deffo worth a punt.
