But this is transfer thread. So not bothering with you on that, but don't call other posters as racist/report to the mods as suspect you do, when it's patently not.

TeeCee wrote: ↑Wed Jun 21, 2023 6:17 pmFFS Augie, you've got such a hard on for hating this guy no-one else can have an opinion? I didn't say he would bang in goals for us, I said i think he will be a good player for us.......and I think playing in midfield (because he will replace Xhaka), he'll chip in with 7 to 15 goals a season in my opinion.so wtf is giving you this belief that he will bang in goals for us ??
He's just turned 24 yo and has 37 caps for a top european team, he has a ratio of over 42% goals or assists during his whole career so far, so almost a goal or an assist every other game. I'd say that was pretty good for a midfielder, and he was a midfielder in Germany most of the time, it's the Chavs who played him up front and surprise surprise it didn't work.
The trouble is TeeCee, it's a very expensive and risky roll of the dice, on a guy that has very much underachieved for the last 3 years. I hear what you say that he was more of a midfielder in Germany (I have no idea about that), but I'd rather spend that money on a bloke that I knew could do it as a midfielder in the PL.
We're not in a position to take a chance like this and hope it comes good. We desperately (imo) need a proper goalscoring striker and that 60+ million could have gone a long way towards buying one. We also desperately need (in everyone's opinion) two top quaity centre mids. So why buy Havertz?
If he's here to replace Xhaka, then are we done with ESR and what about Trossard? Both can play there and most Gooners wouldn't see that as a risk, but as a proven upgrade on the Swiss prat.
Buying Havertz just makes no sense to me. As I've said elsewhere, if he replaces Xhaka, then that only leaves room for one other centre mid, which means that Havertz will have to do the dirty work in the middle of the park too. I've seen nothing about him to suggest that is something he's capable of. He seems to me to be the kind of player that drifts out of a game and becomes anonymous, which is the last thing we need.
Apologies for keep banging on about this, but I'm fucking furious about this purchase.

Apparently Havertz basic fee is a lot lower than is reported. Most of it is add ons. It is also structured over a number of years. Arteta thinks he can improve him and due to his age it’s deemed to be zero risk as we could still sell him on and break even. Technical quality and attitude is the main reason for him coming in. I think it will be a shrewd buy personally.

If this is accurate, then good.
Although I'm a bit disappointed that the Basque c.....I mean Mr Arteta has failed to snap up another of our rivals cast-offs. Especially as it's a City player, because he has a definite thing for City and Chelsea charity shop merchants. Big hearted enough to pay through the nose for them too.
Once I'm seriously angry (after we've paid a king's ransom for Havertz and Rice) I shall refer to him as the Spaniard and not the Basque, just to get under his ETA separatist skin. That should get me sneakily reported to Mr Mod and his big banning stick.

Well that says it all really doesn't it. We need finished articles to fit straight in, but Captain Black wants time to improve a 24 year old who's been at Chelsea for 3 years. As for zero risk and sell on values, it seems to be only us that pays top dollar for flops. If the next 2 or 3 years are a repeat of the last 3, then no way will we get our money back, regardless of his age. Pepe is only 28, but how much do you think we'll get for him? We'll have trouble giving him away.
As for a shrewd buy....can you bike me over some of that gear you're smoking Bob? I'm not looking to have a go at you mate, but your whole post only confirms what I've said before...this is a big roll of the dice and just when we're in a position where we can properly challenge if we buy proven talent, we shouldn't be spending big on "might come good" buys.
Fuck me, I've gotta give it a rest, I'm fucking furious.

After this window the 3 most expensive signings in the club’s history will be Rice, Pepe and Havertz.
I think I preferred when we were skint.

It really isn't that simple is it? So Arteta thinks he's worked something out from 4 or more years ago when the bloke was at Leverkusen, but no one at Chelsea, including Havertz's fellow German Tuchel, could see it?
That's quite a leap. It's very possible that he won't make the grade as a PL midfielder. I keep repeating this, but we're not in a position to take expensive chances, when we have genuine holes that need filling with proven talent. That 60 odd million could have helped buy a proven striker, but of course, Arteta thinks that Jesus is the answer.

I'm probably pissing everyone off, so definitely shutting down now.

I’ve been told that this is 100% right. He isn’t a 9. But he can play a number of different roles.

So are we now saying that we cant put to bed that bu!!shit rumour that the clueless numpty was planning on playing smith-rowe in xhaka's position next season ? I mean we were going for the title and smith-rowe couldnt get game time ahead of the portugese pussy, but yet some fools were ready to believe that he now see's smith-rowe as a starter

Arsenal are finalising plans for Kai Havertz's medical. It will be in the coming days. Club ready to do it abroad if required. Personal terms in place and Havertz will sign a long-term contract with Arsenal.

Personally I don't want either Rice or Havertz but if we do sign them both I'll wait and see what they can contribute. The move might be one that takes both the club and the players to Wenger's mythical "next level". But I honestly cannot see it.
