Best overhead kick I've ever seen has to be Trevor Sinclairs, followed (begrudgingly) by the Ladyboy against Juventus.
It seems Martinez gets better and better with every game he doesn't play for us, yes he's decent but never in the bracket you're putting him in.Retro Gunner wrote: ↑Mon Nov 27, 2023 9:47 amOne or two people on here were upset with me when I questioned Ramsdale early last season, but can anyone who saw the scum/Villa game yesterday, still seriously believe that Arteta didn't make a huge mistake and get rid of our best keeper when he sold Martinez?
He's head and shoulders above Ramsdale, Leno and Raya. Up there with Ederson and Alisson in my opinion. We'll be regretting Lego Head's decision for years to come.![]()
You clearly didn't see his absolute balls up the other weekRetro Gunner wrote: ↑Mon Nov 27, 2023 9:47 amOne or two people on here were upset with me when I questioned Ramsdale early last season, but can anyone who saw the scum/Villa game yesterday, still seriously believe that Arteta didn't make a huge mistake and get rid of our best keeper when he sold Martinez?

Ramsdales as good a shot stopper imo but not the answer, nor is Rays.
Martinez would have leaked a hatful had the spuds not missed so many sitters and it wasn't saves that stopped them, just missing open goals.
He also did his usual of palming a shot that was a comfortable height straight back out to the middle of the six yard box instead of holding onto it or pushing it wide, this was his trademark with us.
He makes plenty of mistakes just like our two, if had had the same pressure put on him that our two are now feeling then he would make a ton more too.
We've conceded the fewest goals in the league so for me it's not the pressing issue, we need to get a Proper forward in and some of our players need to find the form from last season.
All this playing out from the back is what puts keepers under pressure, Allison made some howlers against city and Edison too looks dodgy at times, the best team I've seen play out from the back are Brighton so maybe go for their keeper (I don't know his name lol) and so on and so forth.
You're probably right about emi being at the head of the queue in respect of prospective buyers (He has a world cup to his name gives a big advantage) but I personally never rated him that highly and definitely not Leno.Retro Gunner wrote: ↑Mon Nov 27, 2023 8:50 pmLeftfootlegendGooner wrote: ↑Mon Nov 27, 2023 12:33 pmIt seems Martinez gets better and better with every game he doesn't play for us, yes he's decent but never in the bracket you're putting him in.Retro Gunner wrote: ↑Mon Nov 27, 2023 9:47 amOne or two people on here were upset with me when I questioned Ramsdale early last season, but can anyone who saw the scum/Villa game yesterday, still seriously believe that Arteta didn't make a huge mistake and get rid of our best keeper when he sold Martinez?

Well Lefty, it's not really a matter of him getting better with each game he doesn't play for us, because he was exceptional when he was in goal for us. yes the scum missed chances, as well as having goals ruled out for close off-sides, but he made some cracking saves, especially the double save in the second half. He's also very good with crosses and his positioning is excellent. H's also better than our pair with the ball at his feet, although I agree with you that this playing out on every occasion is bonkers.
I did notice the shot that he pushed straight back out, but don't recall that as a trademark of his at either ours, or Villa, although it certainly is with Leno and Ramsdale. He might make occasional mistakes (fewer than our jokers), but so do Alisson and Ederson, but like them, he makes saves that I honestly don't think Ramsdale and Leno would make...I'm including Leno, because it was he that Arteta chose over Martinez.
I'm not mentioning Raya much, because I've seen too little of him to properly judge, but from what I have seen, I'm as unimpressed as the rest of us on here.
I think the bottom line is that if Ramsdale, Raya, Leno and Martinez were all available, there'd be a much bigger queue for Emi's signature from the big clubs. Only my opinion of course.

He has definitely matured (game/Attitude etc), also he gets stuck and plays some excellent passes by reading the game well. But of course Arteta doesn't like "Characters".![]()
I always said we should have kept him.... as you say Arteta wants "yes" men and anyone daring to counter-say him gets the elbow. (Xhaka was a Yes player.... that's how he managed to be so Shit and yet get picked every week...Retro Gunner wrote: ↑Tue Nov 28, 2023 7:46 pmOneBardGooner wrote: ↑Tue Nov 28, 2023 7:34 pmJust been watching some of the Lazio v Celtic game and for certain I would take Guendouzi over Havertz in a heartbeat. Always liked the bloke. I think Augie and I were his two advocates on here and we got some stick for it. I'd have preferred him to Xhaka (obviously), Partey and it's a no brainer regarding Havertz. As you say, Arteta wants yes men.
