Alexander Hleb's defining moment as an Arsenal player?

Dont ever go near comparig Helb with Cesc. How many times did Helb dribble himself into corners.Yes he looked good dribbling past 3 or 4 players but where was the end product.10 assists in 3 seasons is patheticNo one can defend that.![]()
so the Man U 60 yard ball shouldn't be given any credit whatsoever? Or Hleb's performance at Old Trafford should be knocked from wonderful to poor as Ade didn't score with any of the chances? Just examples
Or the statistical machine that put Hleb as 10th best player in the league two years ago

Maybe im misunderstanding it, are you giving him credit for 1 pass in 1 match? or 1 performance in a game?? In 3 seasons he has 1 outstanding pass/performance and we are supposed to give him credit?Magic Hat wrote:right okdonaldo wrote:Magic Hat

I think a few people are missing the point. It is not disagreed that Hleb is a fantastic player who played a key role is some important games. However for me they were too few and far between. On too many occasions he typified what has been wrong with aresenal (particularly 2006/07 season) that is a fear to shoot, the need to run the ball into the net. Hleb was not aggressive enough (and I don't mean hitting Reading players) - he had a fantastic ability to split the defense with a pass but for each great pass there was 10 or 12 wasted or negative balls, for every run through the defense to create an opening there was 20 pointless runs which waste the ball, for every goal there was 100s of wastes shots or square balls when a shot was needed.
For me the bottom line is whilst a great player he did not contribute enough often enough for me. Lets hope Nasri will be different.

You know that's not what he's saying flash, come on.flash gunner wrote:Maybe im misunderstanding it, are you giving him credit for 1 pass in 1 match? or 1 performance in a game?? Let's put it this way. if Arsenal wastes so many chances during a season as people seem to think, then it can be assumed that a good deal of those chances are created by Hleb. And if we score from corners or free kicks - which we did this season, then that skews against Hleb too.
Also Hleb's ability to keep hold of the ball and the flow of our moves (which led to chances and goals) particularly last season, was key in geting to where we got before we ran out of steam.
I know Hleb's faults as I know the rest of the teams' faults. He had a good one especially last season and was important to the team play.
I was using examples to show that the stats don't always reflect the story. I didn't fancy going through every game of his Arsenal career so just used examples.flash gunner wrote:

Honestly, seems a bizarre twist of logic that due to showing just two examples, I only think he did that during his entire Arsenal career
