ALL Transfer talk - merged thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

To be perfectly honest, if that had happened in Women's football, we'd have all commented on how the quality had improved significantly. In fact, that whole incident including the miss from Watkins would probably come second in their goal of the season competition behind a shot that hit the post

Btw IW8, I've been meaning to post this....congratulations on the new arrival. I hope mum and baby are both doing well.
Cheers Retro. Thankfully both are doing great.

Finally a boy.

I was seriously outnumbered.

All Gooners who are in love with Saka.

Arteta needs to go and see someone about this addiction to buying goalkeepers.

Will the Artetatites still defend him if we again miss out on the title and all because he refused to buy a striker.

Havent I been saying for a while that our transfer policy seems to be scatter gun to say the least - there seems to be no method or plan in place and despite signing young players, everything seems to be quick fix with no long term planning :? When you buy young players like sambi etc, surely there is a recognition that there is a likelihood that it will take time to develop them to this level, so you dont bin them off within 12-18 months IF you believed in them enough to sign them ?? We are spending as much on back up keepers as some clubs are spending on first choice keepers  It looks like we have THREE left sided centre backs and THREE defensive midfielders and ZERO proper left backs and ZERO proper number 9s :?

Honestly edu and the cone boy get a lot of praise and adulation for our transfer dealings, but if you look at it closely it really doesnt stack up both in terms of success rate and money spent

Memo to the cone boy fan club - please be objective here and dont project with shit like calafiori is a left back or that Timber is a left full. Check through the facts and you will see that calafiori's career rose from the ashes when he changed from left full to centre back (in a back 4 or back 3) and Timber is a right back that can play left back but isnt a natural left back

Exclusive: Arsenal set to receive £1 million in compensation with goalkeeper Owen Asemota poised to join Aston Villa

This is the ninth goalkeeper to leave Arsenal this summer, assuming Ramsdale also goes.

Ramsdale - Southampton
Hein - Real Valladolid
Ejeheri - Midtjylland
Okonkwo - Wrexham
Cooper - Stoke City
Hillson - Southend United
Asemota - Aston Villa
Graczyk - Free agent, was linked with United?

And then Raya we obviously signed back after his loan ended.

I remember the dark days under Wenger when the whole world knew we needed an upgrade on Almunia and we wouldn’t sign any goalkeepers. Now we’re signing too many bloody goalkeepers.
