As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
Nwaneri looks class. Calafiori is settling and looks good.
We need to replace the lumbering cumbersome Car Park Foot Partey.
Trossard! Love the guy!
Fuck you Racist Steptoe!
And presumably Merino will start ahead of Partey when he is fit. Question is, how much if an upgrade will he be (he will be an upgrade surely!?)
Anyway, love a late win! Though would rather a more routine victory next time out for the good of my health!
Think a lot on here will be very surprised with Merino, he's mobile wins challenges clean and can play 6/8.
Merino is class, he was one of Spain's best players vs Germany and showed Havertz how to score headed goals. From memory they both had similar chances, which Merino took and Havertz missed.
He will allow Dekkers to go back into his best position which in my opinion is the 6. Trossard and Nwaneri competing for the right sided 8 until Ode comes back. That does mean Partey is finished now, he's not on a downward slope being the wrong side of 30. No contract in sight, he could well leave next summer.
I got my first look at Nwaneri live yesterday, the guy's close control is top draw. He oozes class, and doesn't look out of place in the PL.
I'm gonna say it now, if he develops as we all hope he will it won't be long before he's serious competition for Ode, and he also could easily fill in for Saka as a rotation option.
In my opinion yesterday showed why we wont win a league under the cone boy - how he looked at that front 3 yesterday and thought that martinelli was the worst one is beyond me cos saka was fcuking woeful, and havertz is pure shite Like I have said for a loooong time, the cone boy has has plan in his head pre-game and is unable to adapt during the game based on circumstances or individual performances - in his head martinelli is ALWAYS the one to be subbed, and yesterday he got out of jail big time
I thought rice was very quiet again yesterday and partey has to go - when we signed him I never thought that I would see the day where I would be clamouring for jorginho to be starting, but that is where I am now
I would also like to say how great it is to have a balanced back 4 with a left footer playing left back, and without a doubt that is the strongest back 4 we have in the club
I think the reason Martinelli is hooked in comparison to other players is to protect him from burn out . From where I stand his work rate on and off the ball usually at full pace seems to be much larger than his peers . It seems to be a tactic to let him run the full backs for the first half and take him off when they are knackered.
I don't have his distance covered comparison with Saka and Trossard but if someone knows how to get them ,I would be interested.

Yeah there’s been a few times I’ve been clamouring for Saka to be subbed off only for him to come up with a vital goal or superb assist from a killer final ball/corner.
Having seen him come up with the goods time and time again I now actually have him down as un-subbable no matter how poorly he’s playing.
Even though I commented a few times yesterday about how poorly he was playing there was now way I’d have wanted him hooked - his corners are fucking lethal, bang on the money every single time and it was no surprise that’s was the route we finally got our get out of jail from.
Lads are we honestly saying that we have no-one else to take a corner bar saka ??? He was woeful yesterday (not as bad as the german dud or partey mind you) but the point I was making is that martinelli was the best of the front 3 and was still subbed. Again. I dont think martinelli played as well as he did against the scum and the oil cheats, but how must it affect his confidence when he is always subbed and players alongside him playing shit get left on ?? Lads on here correctly point out that he needs a goal for his confidence, but no-one speaks about the role the cone boy is playing in undermining his confidence week in and week out

Two years ago I said on here that within 3 seasons ESR and Martinelli would be gone and that we might well also see Saka poached by one of the big boys.
ESR has gone and it still wouldn’t surprise me to see Martinelli gone next summer. I hope I’m wrong, but I agree with augie that Martinelli is always the guy who’s hooked, regardless what has been happening on the pitch. That surely means that Arteta has doubts about him (which I’ve always maintained), so might be prepared to sell him, or that Gabi will fancy a move.
As for Havertz and Partey, I’ve made my feelings clear on the forum. You don’t win big prizes with duffers like that in key positions.
I don’t think anyone takes them as well consistently in the legaue Augie never mind just for us.
I was thinking about it during the game yesterday, he rarely puts in a poor ball, almost always bang on the money. The quality is so good it’s no wonder we get so much joy out of it.
Saka has 5 assists in our 6 games so far this season - the majority form corners. When we are rewarded with one on his side there’s a genuine belief from everyone in the ground that we’ll get something from it. There was a huge roar at the scum and city when we got corners that side and we scored in both games from them.
It’s every bit a lethal weapon to us these days than a free kick on the edge of the box.

Rodders my loyalty to homegrown players is well known at this stage, so believe me when I say that I loved the saka that broke into the team a few years ago (The Independent ran an article lately saying him and smith-rowe kept the cone boy in a job when he looked doomed), but I dont see that same saka on the pitch anymore when he plays. Where is his burst of pace which tormented full backs ? Where is the belief to drive at those same full backs ? Without doubt he is an unbelievable talent when on his game, but for a guy with his rep we dont see him on his game as much as we should imo. These days we see a guy happy to fall down anytime anyone breathes on him - yes he gets rough treatment at times and deserves more protection from refs, but at other times he is going down quicker than a cheap whore I know most of his corners are good, but what you are talking about is like american football - keeping a guy on purely for set pieces. Personally I think a short spell out of the team would do him no harm at all cos he is played too much for his own health anyway, but secondly when a manager spends as much as the cone boy has, then he has to give these players a fair chance too, and no player should be irreplaceable
Thanks but I had seen those stats , it's the yards covered that I am interested in. Martinelli has a great engine and does most things at pace but I just wonder if it's the defensive stuff that he gets through may be detrimental to his attacking.

Our very own version of special teams Augie, corner chaos.
My beloved Bears beat Kroenke’s Rams tonight, we’re still shite though
If it wasn't for their keeper playing like Yashin reborn and their 2nd being a goal of the season contender, we would've hammered them pretty comfortably I think.
Sometimes the dice don't go your way until the 95th minute unfortunately.
