Jammy tossers. Every deflection falling to them and shots rolling off the post across the goal line.
Everything seems to be going for them doesn’t it. I don’t buy the idea that they’ve suddenly come out of nowhere Leicester style and marching towards the title. They lost fewer games than us last season and had a 5point lead at some point. They’ve always been hovering around the title, and we are simply not good enough to launch a City style pursuit to overhaul them. They are heading for 85-90points at this rate, which means we need at least 90 - a mark we haven’t hit for donkey years. If the club magically shows serious ambition by strengthening in Jan, we might have a chance but it’s a long shot. Fully expecting a fallout after the Brighton game and pressure back on Arteta.
Yes, so Liverpool have won the league and all it took was to change managers...so all we have to do is get a proper manager and we will definitely win it next year....it will stick in Liverpools craw that the only reason they won it is because city and us didn't turn up

Liverpool won't care that we, nor City, didn’t turn up. You don't care how you win it. AND, they are not dropping points left and right. Btw, I keep hearing how they are going to slip up and start dropping points. Somebody give me a shout when that starts, I really want to see it.

The reality is, whether they drop points or not, we definitly will, so we still won't catch them :(

I did until they were 3 nil up then I turned it off. Fact of the matter is their first was a fluke double rebound which created a sitter. The second was an offside which Salah was allowed to run into danger from and then he cocked his legs up to nutmeg their defender. Another deflection and into the path of the goalscorer. Goal. Kudus hit the post at 2-0 and it rolled across the goal line and away to safety. I also saw a blatant pen when McAllister hauled Bowen down off the ball. Seemed fairly fortunate turn of events to me. After that I’m sure with a 3 nil cushion they ran them ragged. West Ham are toss as we all know, so no great surprise.

Yep, this is what I don’t get about the comments on here about Liverpool this season. It’s all been about how lucky they’ve been with decisions, how they haven’t had injuries, how other teams have been out of form, how they haven’t played anyone decent yet and that they’ll slip up. Embarrassing really chaps.

They’re actually looking increasingly good and they spent fuck all last summer, so Slot has had a significant impact. It’s the same players, but they look a far better side than last season. It’s in the Liverpool DNA to move the ball from back to front very quickly and even when opponents are sitting deep, the ball is moved moved quickly with one or two touches. Contrast that with our slow movement of the ball which allows teams to shuffle around into position.

The scousers are winning the league this season.

West Ham looking punch drunk as per usual. They lost their soul the moment they gave up Boleyn and moved into the council house. That pitch always looks a bit too narrow and doesn’t suit their game
Yeah hard enough for us to moan about how shit they are when our last 2 visits there the aggregate score was 50 nil.
Lopetegui will be gone soon
They’re absolutely fucking useless and it says it all about the crap in the bottom half of the PL that this lot aren’t in the relegation zone, or in any danger of having to face a dog fight to stay up.

I completely agree with you. We were the same in 2022/23. Like a steam train until we blew up with injuries and bottled it. Let them see it out. Once they have played 38 games there will be no debate.

I don’t think they’ll blow up but they aren’t unstoppable. Highly annoying we dropped points to Fulham and Everton. Should only be a 5 point lead.
Should be more like a 2 point lead at max. Failing to hold on with that last minute goal conceded against Cheaty, those last minute misses against the Renters and Toon would be and extra 3 points.

Could even argue that disallowed goal against the victims would have been a massive swing in our favour.
Points tossed away regularly. We are no less of a team than Liverpool this season.

I think that’s what is known as cognitive dissonance.
You mean in the same way a Psychiatrist whilst talking with a Philosopher about how a child might be able to hold two very separate perceptions of a chair; by thinking of it as a sail boat with which to play whilst also engaging with it as and in its intended object as a Chair for sitting on? :rubchin:

Not quite OBG, it’s holding two contradictory beliefs at the same time and being adamant that both are true.

In this case,
A. We have regularly tossed points away, but…
B. We are no less a team than Liverpool (who have not regularly tossed points away).

If A is true, which it is and is factually verifiable, then B can’t be true.

Politics aside, you’ll find no better examples of cognitive dissonance than amongst football supporters. It’s the classic mental conflict of fact and emotion.

In 1988/89 Arsenal blew the league in the run in against dross. And then won it at the death against the League champions. It’s not over till it’s over. We’re in December.

Yep could’ve been a cricket score

Their frontline is dynamic and decisive and Salah is having the season of his life to earn a new contract

I dont see them blowing it either because (a) they have too big a points cushion built up and (b) ourselves and the chavs will absolutely drop a good few stupid points in the second half of the season, and citeeh are just not clicking this season.

I watched a few mins of the Back Page Special on sky saturday afternoon and the journo's on it said that the victims and citeeh are in prime position to spend money in January transfer window - I know that the standard this season is shit (forest 2nd says it all), and I know that technically the victims were in the hunt for a while last season but it never really felt like they were in the hunt to win the league - that for me makes their turnaround this season all the more commendable given that they spent nothing last summer on a squad that looked to be in decline. You can of course ask what does it say for us when the standard has dropped so much and yet we are struggling badly even when we win, but of course we are not supposed to admit to that lest we be accused of looking for something to complain about  Anyway if the scousers spend a few quid next month (in midfield imo) then it could really push them over the line, and as was said already, when you win the league you dont care whether the standard was shit or not cos you are the champions

Salah is the difference, if we had him we’d be off into the sunset. He’s fucking lethal and they’re never out of a game with him up top. If he gets any length of injury they’ll be in trouble but if he stays fit and in current form then nobody will catch them.

I don't believe that our squad is as good as liverpools, apart from saka none of our attacking players would get in their team.

I can only assume that klopp is watching from afar hoping that they don't win the league because it will show his failings as a manager.

You also have to look at the way teams play against them, the spuds and wet spam went gung-ho style and left massive gaps at the back that they exploited.

Teams don't do this against us, they sit deep and defend in numbers, when the odd team does open up then we exploit the gaps and generally score for fun.

I still think pool will drop a few points and when they've played teams that do defend i n numbers they've struggled to break them down as much as we have.

There's still a long way to go but having saka out is going to make it harder for us for sure, we really do need a couple of attacking options, alas I can't see us getting anyone of note in.

I still go back to the sendings off we've had that cost us points and players that the same rule of thumb haven't been applied to anyone else, that's not an excuse its the facts.

Anyhow if we can win these next two away games then I think we will push on and have a real go at it.

I accept all that rodders but they get the ball to him quickly which allows him to play to his strengths - do you have confidence we would do the same ? We would pass sidewards for a few mins and then pass backwards once or twice, and then pass it to odeargod who would tap the ball to himself at least 6 times before releasing it to salah who by then would be double teamed and have nowhere to go

He's one of their most successful managers and they owe much of their current form to the rebuilding work he did before he left. Slot didn't need to get rid of trouble makers and substandard quality like Arteta. The core of the squad is still intact and they've tasted glory before which makes a huge difference.

As others have said, they've built enough buffer, can afford to drop points and the rest are never going to be consistent enough including. us. We will contuinue to play bridesmaid until we fix our lack of quality in key areas.
