Spot on BFG4 and the final sentence is exactly right.BFG4 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 12:53 pmThere is such an extreme level of laziness about how we approach transfers. In over 5 years at the club, Artetas search for a striker led him to get Jesus from City(any google search of his goal scoring record could tell how that would go) and in place of looking for a striker a few years ago, he instead kept Nketiah and gave him 100K a week![]()
His bright idea this month was to bid for Watkins knowing he had no chance of ever signing him.
When the season is over, we'll have missed out on the title again by a few points and it will be down to having a manager who will continuously leave us a few players short of success. Yesterday was brilliant but it papers over the cracks in the sense that when we meet a team who defend properly and are compact, we tend to look clueless because we don't have an option up front![]()
I was as chuffed as anyone with yesterday’s result…and the performance from 60 mins onwards….but as you say, people tend to delude themselves after a result like that. If one takes an overall view of yesterday, it was fucking worrying how poor we were after scoring very early, to then scoring our second. Sitting back as we did after scoring is something we’ve been guilty of all season and it hands the initiative to the other side, something you can’t do to top sides. As soon as we got on the front foot, we blew them away. I wish I was confident that Legohead will learn from that, but I’m not.
Btw, no one is mentioning the two cracking saves by Raya, the second of which, low down to his right when prior to the deflection he was going the other way, was truly top class. We could well have gone in trailing at the interval.
How we approach Weds game will tell us a lot. I’d rather go out by 3 or 4 on aggregate if we give it a real go, rather than by the 2-0 margin if we play the slow tempo, tippy tappy crap. If that’s the plan, we might as well save the air fare and concede now.

Its a mystery that he has never played Martinelli through the middle...Retro Gunner wrote: ↑Sun Feb 02, 2025 10:15 pm
To be honest, were that to happen, then playing any of Martinelli, Trossard or even Nwaneri through the middle would be an upgrade. I'm sure they're every bit as capable of heading wide from 3 yds, scuffing shots from 6 yards, or missing virtual open goals from 12 yards. Oh and mis-hitting 5 yard passes to teammates. I feel sorry for the poor bastard and I know he scored today, but he really is fucking awful and needs replacing.
Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
Surely Liam Delap is worth a punt? His old man was a dickhead but he’s got the ability and doesn’t mind cracking one off around the edge of the box. (Leave it Rodders!)

Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
Looking like Nobody's coming then.
Re: ALL Transfer talk - merged thread
Not really. Martinelli can barely scuff one in so no chance he’s the finisher we desireRed Army 2 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 2:55 pmIts a mystery that he has never played Martinelli through the middle...Retro Gunner wrote: ↑Sun Feb 02, 2025 10:15 pm

They have basically written off the season.
They could have got someone in who could do a job better than the donkey havertz.
Simply no will.

Even Evan Ferguson has joined the Shammers!
We used our loan quota to get Neto and Sterling

Fucking crazy that no one is coming in.
The result yesterday was great but the Man City defence is a mess.
Season done
