Article in the times the other day about do we need to sell a star to fund a kick on and mentioned saliba.

Club dropping journos the word already with planted stories He's gone in summer guaranteed
We are not flush with cash. No one left to sell. Jesus injured can’t be sold. Zinchenko shit. Partey and Jorginho out of contract. Tierney on a free. We need a back up keeper permanently, Zubimendi to replace Partey and Jorginho. A winger and a striker. Guaranteed Saliba is off. £80m to Madrid is my bet. Probably not all up front and probably reliant on add ons.
I have a horrible feeling you are right. It's sickening to think of a club of our stature and this is the shitfest we are in.
80m would be a travesty.

Selling him full stop would.

But it's reported we do have money to spend now and the ffp issues last summer are not there this year. So unless that wrong we shouldn't need to sell.

If we want to sell first teamers then odegarrd can be fckd off with little loss as he doesn't suit how we should play (although we don't play as w eused to fast effective, his holding the ball and taking too many touches suits artta control ball to a tee) be it indount we would get that much for him 50m maybe.

We could upgrade easily I think and need to of we have any serious ambitions as he ain't good enough as the creative fulcrum.

Likewise if psg were daft enough to give us our money back and a bit for rice we should jump at it. Yes he's knackered, yes he's decent but he's not a 100m player in a billion years sadly it's more and more apparent. As I said before I like him but he doesn't dominate any games as he should (well a 100m player should), doesn't take them by the scruff of the neck and doesn't step up when things are drifting and needs someone to lift us. He also goes missing often which I put down to tiredness, but even in season one he got a few crucial late goals but still didn't dominate games. Yes he's good but he's not top class. We paid twice as much as he was worth.

Just in relation to those three points. I agree 80m would be a travesty.

Similarly agree selling him at all would also be a travesty.

I think a couple of you might be missing the point slightly on point three there though. It's not about us wanting or needing to sell him. I think it's about him deciding he wants to go somewhere where his talent will help him win trophies.

And if the modern era has taught us anything it's that contracts are not worth the paper they are written on and all the power is with the players and their scumbag parasite agents.

With Jorgihno and skid mark Partey out the door in the summer Kimmich would be a very decent addition - hope there's some truth in that one.

Another one to line up in our clever 4-6-0 or 5-5-0 formation for next season !

I really don't know if El Brento's seductively cunning 4-6-0 formation confounds and baffles oppo managers but it often leaves me drooling like an imbecile.

A few months ago it was reported that we had agreed a deal and zubimendi was def joining us in the summer, and now for the last while that deal seems to have gone very quiet and now we are linked with kimmich - I dont know enough about zubimendi to make an informed decision tbh, but it does worry me when I see deals that are supposedly done just collapsing in front of our eyes. Is it because the player no longer likes what he see's at AFC ? I can understand that if I'm honest, but the image that sends is not a good one for the club. I see absolute spastics coming up with cringy comments declaring love and devotion to the manager and captain, and while it's clear to see that they are choosing to live in their own bubble, the rest of the world including media, agents and potential signings, are looking at the more real view of what is going on at AFC and that cant be good

No doubt kimmich is still a great player with real standing and respect in world football and coming on a free transfer would be an added bonus, but he is just gone 30 years old so should that be a concern ? Zubimendi has just turned 26 and in theory is coming into his peak years so is that better option ? More importantly with cone boy still in charge will it really matter who we sign ? :banghead:

I watched Sociedad v Man U and Zubimendi was pretty average. He’s a slightly bigger version of Torreira and is very defensive. I’m not sure in the current state he’s right partner for Rice and he’ll need to adapt his game significantly for the PL.

Zubimendi didn’t play. He was ill. Not even in the matchday squad.

I was watching on my phone from work and there was a bloke with Martin (?) on the back of his shirt who had an identical stature but I think he wears Zubimendi on his shirt so I did question my sanity. I did see the game against Real over the weekend and he wasn’t great but to be fair they were reduced to 10men very early on. We are going to lose a lot of size in the middle of the park if we sign him and I fear he lacks the athleticism to go to combat with the savage animals that inhabit the PL.
