Perhaps we should tip our hat to Wenger and Dein flor that last night... surely this was the vision when we left Highbury for the Emirates - to be able to compete with Europe's best and beat them.

Oh wow, rices were top drawer but that merino finish was special, that’s some technique to finish that
Lol Rice gets so much stick on here when he's been one of our most consistent performers all season, so now you try and dismiss his two brilliant free kicks and big up up a (decent but not anywhere near as good) finish as if it's better.

Wow you'll be crying in your cornflakes tomorrow morning
Rices were top drawer, what a dismissal, I really zinged him didnt i. I took nothing away from rice or his 2 goals, I simply offered an opinion on the 3rd goal which seems to differ from your own.

This is one of the best hangovers I have ever had after a classic night at the Arsenal. Was in the 12 pins last night, I am like a lot of people on this forum a middle aged git now. Was talking to lots of young Gooners in the 12 pins, saying how they need to see us get over the line.

Honestly, with the right recruitment in the summer we are so close. And this man Arteta is and should be the man to take us forward.

Sorry to bruise your ego, you did mention pub. The world has gone woke and we need to get back to calling people out on their foolishness.

Statistically we are ranked 3rd favourites. What do you say to this or are you going to continue to cling onto your doom and gloom outlook?

It will be interesting to see how this debate ages. Only 8 days to wait.

I'm under no illusion of the task at hand.
I'm not a blind follower or a cultist as DB likes to jab at me from arm's length whilst keeping his head below the parapet.
But I never understand this routine wave of negativity before games. Sure the team has well documented deficiencies but it’s a cup competition and we’ve shown we can compete hence qf berth. Some seem more interested in being proven right than seeing the team thrive
"as DB likes to jab at me from arm's length whilst keeping his head below the parapet"?

:coffeespit:

Not every sweeping comment is about you. Get over yourself ffs.

If you think anything you have to say worries me in the slightest you must be deranged. But I certainly won't stand by while you take a swipe during an argument I'm not part of.

Your record of disingenuous argument on literally dozens of occasions and borderline WUMing on a few occasions on here (as complained about by several posters) is enough for me to ban you under the forum rules any time I want.

I've noticed you've eased off a bit on the disingenuous arguing of late, and I've always given people enough rope to either hang themself or turn it round, but you are literally on your last chance here. If you destroy one more thread by constantly shifting the goal posts of your argument, or posting to provoke a negative reaction, or using any other WUM tactics, as you have done many times previously, you will be gone.

So honestly, think about it, if I was worried in the slightest about you, don't you think I'd have banned you by now? God knows you've given me enough reason.

Note, that last comment you posted (in red) is a WUM comment. And honestly only an idiot would believe that.

You don't get to question the credibility or loyalty of any member on here.

If anything it's you that runs off and stops posting on certain threads after you've been proven completely wrong or been asked a genuine question you cannot answer because you know it kills your argument. There are numerous examples of this all over the forum. You never ever hold your hand up and say "ok sorry I got that one wrong" - unlike the vast majority of posters on here.
I don’t think you’re worried about me, It’s not that serious, but I’ve had you in several knots anytime you’ve tried to debate me directly because of your tendency to see things black and white. When pressed, you revert to the familiar and well rehearsed tactic of labelling people cultists, wums etc, followed by thin veiled threats.
What’s a forum without contrasting views or do you prefer everyone tows the line and joins your ridiculous Arteta out campaign which you invoke at every opportunity.
I’ll continue to speak my mind and call out the negative fans on their bs. If you genuinely think this is wuming, then go ahead and pull the plug. Any perception of easing off is far fetched. I just choose not to engage with certain people because the outcome is predictable.

You really are slightly delusional aren't you? Or at the very least blinkered.

Read back through the threads. You've never once had anyone on here genuinely in knots with a legitimate argument. You've twisted their responses, put words in their mouths, moved the goalposts, contradicted yourself, and ignored challenging responses or questions, when proven wrong. You do that literally all the time.

Off the top of my head, have a read back through the "GG paid top wages" debate we had. I literally proved you completely wrong with evidence from his players and news articles and other posters backing my argument, and you twisted and turned, misquoted me, mived the goalposts and started talking about pay after GG had left, etc etc etc....

I do agree this place needs more than one viewpoint and have always thrived to ensure that. To be honest I've often let the more positive posters bend the rules and even break them for longer than I should have in an effort to try and keep the forum from being just one viewpoint.

Unfortunately the posters with that more blindly positive viewpoint almost always resorts to calling people disloyal or not proper fans or disappear off the forum for months while things go wrong and then reappear to post "I told you so" when we have one really decent or brilliant result like last night. And then promptly disappear again when it inevitably all goes to shit again.

And trust me, if you start up the full on WUMing again I won't hesitate.

A lot of you owe Mikel an apology. His team just put out one of the best performances in Europe in the history of our football club.
Nutty, seriously?

It was one superb performance. If we were doing that every game - or even every other game - I'd agree wholeheartedly with you, mate. But we are not doing that unfortunately.

Let's just enjoy that amazing performance and win without resorting to "I told you so" - especially as we have won nothing yet, but rather had one great performance.

The club fucked up in the transfer window last summer, so the PL with all of the issues we have had hasn't been what it should have been. No problems acknowledging that. Who is culpable, it's hard to tell.

But in the CL for whatever reason, we have put out some of our best performances for decades. I remember some of Wenger's best sides flattering to deceive with the exception of 2006, when we should have won the fucker. And last night topped the lot.

Before the game, I was worried about what Bellinghan, Vini Jr and Mbappe would do to our defence. None of those players did anything. The team has to take a lot of credit for that. Even the likes of Kiwior played his part.

Fucking unbelievable. Can’t remember the last time I was buzzing like this. What a performance.

The two free kicks from Rice were out of this world. I didn’t think he had that in him, but in fairness, he’s never shown that before. Cracking performance from the whole team, although I was moaning about Merino, who wasn’t playing well imo and then he scores a really good goal. Took it first time and guided it inside the post…no time for the keeper to set himself.

A special mention for Partey, who I’ve been slating for 3 years, demanding he be sold. Best game I’ve seen him have for us. A little slip near the end when he reverted to form and gave the ball away putting us under, but he played really well.

I don’t want to put a negative spin on things, but if we had the striker we all know we need, then it’s 2-0 at half time and probably 5 or 6-0 at the end.

Still, can’t ask for much more than going to Madrid 3-0 up.
Of course he fucking had it in him. The crime was that Odegaard was allowed to take free kicks for so long. I was ridiculed a few games back for asking for RIce to take the free kick in a similar position he hit the wall. That was put right tonight.

If you saw him interviewed, I don’t think even he thought he had it in him. He’s played over 320 games and never scored direct from a free kick. As he said, he usually hits the wall or sticks it over the bar. But you knew that “of course he fucking had it in him”.

You don’t appear on here for weeks and months while we’re way off Liverpool’s pace and flopping in the domestic cups, then one cracking performance and you’re back with your confrontational manner. There isn’t one poster on here that doesn’t want us to win the CL, because not being delusional does not equate to not wanting the very best for the Arsenal.

Enjoy the performance and the win, like everyone else is, but without the snide comments. Let’s all hope you don’t have cause to disappear for weeks on end again.

Lads, with respect, that is fucking nonsense. I'm really surprised at both of you. You've been on here so long I thought you both knew better than that. Not sure why we can't enjoy a historic and brilliant win without turning on other members?

With all due respect mate I don't know why you've called me out on this, it's my view and surely I'm allowed to express it.

I've not insulted anyone or used abusive language, I've just posted what I believe, if you disagree, that's OK because that's your view but it doesn't change mine.

Anyway, a brilliant win on a great night and one I will never forget.

I only caught the part from right before they had one sent off, and even that was a glimpse as I was already 10 pints into the evening, and was in the way home from the pub near work (they don’t show footie), stepped into a boozer near me to catch a glimpse of what went on and saw we were 3 up. I thought I was truly pissed when I first saw the score.

Suffice to say, when I don’t watch a European game we tend to do well (PSV 7-0 and last night).

It’s actually very offensive that you call genuine debate wumming and it calls into question your judgement. You regularly turn a blind eye to the real wumming because it supports your Arteta out disposition. This is clear for all to see in the manner you predictably endorse negative posts with enthusiasm. Just look at the quality of some of the posts leading to our biggest game of the season. Reall gutter stuff but you won’t call it out and we know why.

You rarely acknowledge a positive post which is quite odd because you sat on the fence during the Wenger out campaign and I’ve said this before. You even made the bold claim that Kroenke would never sack Wenger unless we faced relegation. Yes of course, you will mention the secret forum you created to support the cause etc, but it was well known within the inner circle that you secretly resented the campaign, and I have the WhatsApp messages to prove. Years later, you still deride the effectiveness of the protests and credit Wenger’s leaving to apathy. What you forget is that without anger and protests, there would’ve been no apathy or empty seats. One led to the other. We now have a young caoch who’s managed to undo most of the damage Wenger left behind and you suddenly want him out because he doesn’t meet your high standards. The high standards you were happy to disregard when it suited you.

It's also funny you mention the Graham debate. I acknowledged that historically poor wages was an issue, but Dein resolved this in the last few years before Graham left. I pointed out to you that Keown who had left due to a wage dispute returned for a lot of money. We didn’t even need another defender at the time, but the funds were made available. You saw reference to us paying top wages, completely ignored the context and run with it. Again, another symptom of your tendency for black and white thinking.

I wholeheartedly disagree that you strive to encourage opposing viewpoints. Far from it, and the proof is in the pudding with most of the positive posters all gone or only appear intermittently. The Wenger out debacle already took out a large chunk with posters like Mark 1/2p etc deactivating their account. You’ve allowed the forum to become polarised by consistently siding with one view and if you think targeting people like me, whether directly or by proxy is going to improve the current state of affairs, then please go ahead.
