We are paying Jesus for 2 years for doing nothing aren't we?Limerick Gooner wrote: ↑Fri Jul 04, 2025 10:39 pmWe would in theory have had to pay the guy full wages for 2.5 years for nothing?

Three different women have made the allegations and since July 2022 he has been questioned and bailed by the police SEVEN times.
They certainly kept a lid on that.

Since his first arrest in July 2022, Thomas Partey was arrested, questioned by police, and bailed seven times while playing for Arsenal.

Obviously they knew the rumours, but without formal charges would they sack or suspend a player based on what was Chinese whispers and social media comments. ? Again I don't think so.
The timing of the charges are incredible in terms of his contract running out. However he is still entitled to a presumption of innocence until proven otherwise. I'm only guessing this, but is there sn element of fear among the CPS that if they don't charge him now then they may never get the chance to?
I suspect you could be right BWK, that they might be worried that now his contract is up and he’s likely to move abroad, they won’t be able to charge him. It would probably be a struggle to extradite him for a matter that they’ve been prevaricating over for 3 years. Still, I’m no lawyer.
Re: Partey Charged
Suspect it depends on where he goes . Is there extradition treaty with Saudi or Qatar
Re: Partey Charged
Disgraceful that Arsenal actually wanted to give the guy a new contract with that hanging over him. Arsenal used to be a classy club but now they are just obsessed with anything money related and how to save a few quid.

Re: Partey Charged
I don't care.
I think he'll be cleared like Mendy and Chad Evans (eventually)

I'm just glad we'll never see him in an Arsenal jersey again.

Re: Partey Charged
Given that he thankfully aint our player anymore we dont have to concern ourselves with his trial from the team perspective.
But from the clubs point of view it looks bad....are they really going to claim they heard nothing of any rumor and carried on business as usual?
Now i know you can say innocent till proven guilty and fair enough.......but did he have to play, couldnt he have developed an injury keeping him sidelined and out of sight.
What difference did playing him make....fuck all we won nothing, and yet the fact that we played him will make us look bad forever more.
Im not going to blame legohead on this just yet as he may well have been told by the club that we're paying his wages and he plays so long as fit but in my own honest opinion as soon as they knew of that rumor and confirmed it with the player he should have developed a long term injury until his contract scenario resolved itself.
The days of "The Arsenal" as the bastion of all things classy about a football club are long long gone!!!

Re: Partey Charged
Thing is, he may have said to Arteta, The Club's Hierarchy "I AM Innocent"... and so they decided to believe him and stand by their man/player...If he said that and they didn't play him and made up any kind of excuse / reason, that would have been pre-judging him regardless.
if IF he is found guilty I hope they throw away the key.
Trouble is these days Prem players are Millionaires and can afford the Top Briefs, who as we all know can & will do everything and anything to get a client off.
I mean look at Trump !?
A different legal system agreed... But He was & is Guilty of fraud, he is a proven Rapist but paid the woman off (*)

Re: Partey Charged
I wouldnt be judging him, he might be guilty/he might not.
But i'm (pretend im the club) contractually obliged to pay his salary, i doubt im obliged to give him game time.
Add to that the fact that im going to protect the clubs reputation above all else it would have been the better thing to do to preserve the clubs integrity.
As it stands it looks like they've stood by an alleged rapist to suit there own business purposes and then lamped him under the bus as soon as his contract was up.
No matter what way they turn now the club look like scum which does nothing but feed rival clubs ammunition they dont even need.
