ARTETA OUT!

Too Soon!? :rubchin:
I would say you are a bit late :D

I kept up my policy of not watching any pre season friendlies.
I’m sure we will be ready to go at Old Trafford in a couple of weeks - but I have zero expectations this season, because we have a manager totally incapable of winning anything.

I’m back in the latter Wenger era period.
I will watch the games, just not getting excited about anything, because I know it will ultimately amount to nothing …

Spoiler alert for Old Trafford.

Arsenal 1 (78% possession, 17 attempts on goal)
United 2 (crossed the half way line twice in the whole game).

Same old shite

Pre season friendlies mean fuck all, i think i can remember the invincibles had an awful pre season including a 1-0 defeat by northampton??
I also recall an almost fautless pre season followed by a 0-2 defeat on the opening day of the season at home to west ham.
Teams use friendlies for different purposes.
You probably learn more from friendly defeats than from wins or at least you should, and there my friends is where the problem most likely lies

I agree with what you said, but preseason is also about building cohesion and the team getting to know one another.

The front three we put out yesterday will probably start a lot of games this season, but the midfield three behind them almost certainly won’t. Would it have not made sense to have given the first choice midfielders some opportunities to play with the first choice forwards, to try and develop some understanding before the season kicks off?

Diet Pep thought it would be wise to bring on his only creative player, the invisible captain, at the same moment he took Vik off! It makes no sense.

The other issue that we have is just our style of play. Big Vik lives off of fast through passes, splitting the lines. We have nobody in the team who makes those kinds of passes, and so I can see him struggling.

Give it five or six matches where he doesn’t score, and the press can start labelling him an expensive flop, without taking into account that we only score from freekicks or penalties.

If he bought Vik he has to play to his strengths FFS....im not sure he wanted Vik...exactly right he feeds off fast through passes

The FA Cup ???? !!!
Have you seen our recent record in this under Arteta!

Our priorities these days are in this order:

1. Top 8 in the Champions League group stage
2. Top 5 in the Premier League
3. Overseas and domestic friendly matches - to sell merch

4. FA Cup
5. League Cup

Read it twice, Its a horrible read with Legohead admitting what most on here knew years ago

The standouts for me were

""Despite being left frustrated to see us on the wrong end of a 3-2 defeat to Villarreal in our latest pre-season fixture, Mikel Arteta feels it’s good to get some determination to put things right early in the summer.""

So realistically if you need to put things right, it means things are wrong...if only we had a figurehead responsible for ensuring that didnt happen, he must be new in the job!! 5 years and a billion pounds in he needs to put things right.

""“We’re disappointed with the result,” he said. “I think we were a bit naive, especially the way we defended open spaces and the counter-press in a few moments - I think they had three shots, three goals.""

This isnt new you fuckwit, its been an identifiable issue for years, trawl this very forum for all the examples of a team popping their head over the halfway line for the first time and getting a goal.
Legohead isnt even temu pep, that would still give him some degree of value..., we're going to have to add several temu's to the title to make it more reflective of this lads non existent abilities. temu/temu/temu pep

Imagine any other job in the world (politcian excluded) where you can openly admit to the same repeated failures with no fear of any repercussions. Banter Club!!!

Honestly if the cone boy or italian bertie bassett didnt come away from that game yesterday with a renewed determination to sign eze asap, then our season is fcuked before it starts - fcuk all creativity from midfield throughout. I bemoaned before the game the lack of passes in behind and how it affects martinelli (he was woeful yesterday btw), but after the game I am more worried about how vic is going to survive with the service this midfield will give him :rubchin: I said all summer, you could have prime brazilian ronaldo up front and it wouldnt make a difference as long as captain invisible is our number 10, and looking at gyokeres struggle yesterday I think we are already seeing proof of that

I almost never read the official website, other than the occasional links put on here and reading this reminds me why.

An absolute pile of crap, lots of words from both Lego Head and whoever wrote the article, but fuck all said. Typical Pravda “feel good” pap, full of meaningless jargon. Unfortunately, it makes me “feel bad”.

I didn’t have many positive expectations for the coming season, despite the signings and being reminded that fuck all will change as long as Arteta is at the helm has removed any scant optimism I had.
