England or Arsenal..

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Arsenal is my first, second and third love....but I'm English and would love England to win the World Cup...it would be simply amazing! 8)

England do play some shite football though  and with players like Rio, Terry, Neville, bentley, Lampard, Rooney, Cashley, etc...they really are hard to like

What is the difference from supporting say... Richards or Beckham then when we support the likes of Campbell when they join the club? A player we once didn't like we now cheer for.

Football fans have a amazing ability to twist their heads around all sorts of things and besides, with the amount of stick the press gave them, someone has to cheer the England players

I agree (though, being an awkward fucker, I don't hate Bentley).

England fans (those ones from Crewe, Exeter, Carlisle, Hartlepool and so on), with their pitiful flags are a big turn-off though. In the olden days, mates and I went abroad on road trips for a few England games, including one trip to Moldova - now that is a fucking long drive - great trip though. But the England psycho shit-heads (probably fresh from beating up muslims in Bolton or Catholics with the UDA) were enough to put anyone off following England.

Turning the question round for Kaqak, rebel etc, Arsenal or your national team??

The players certainly dont care about Playing for their country as much as their club and that is what has made me, not really care when England play. In the last 2-3 years ive slowly not really cared and when ive missed a game i thought oh well its only England, but when it comes to Arsenal well, thats a different story, if im running late for a game i get so pissed off and take out on everyone else.... so everyone England or Arsenal?
Arsenal for me always comes first

London born and raised and lived here all my life but to Scottish parents so England are a non-starter versus Arsenal or just about anyone.

To answer 26may's question it's Arsenal over Scotland any day - but then that's easy for me to say given we never even qualify in the first place!

The Euro"s were great and there was no England to spoil it. No over the top media saying England are going to win.

When I grew up in the eighties we only had one TV channel i Norway, and every Saturday they would show a game from the English 1st division. So we all grew up watching English football, and most kids would have a favourite English football team. How we ended up supporting the team we did was pretty random. Some would select a team based on the look of their kit, some based on which team was playing good football. But once you selected a team, you stuck with it. Which is why there as still an awful lot of Liverpool supporters in Norway. And there are Norwegian supporter groups for most English teams, even smaller teams like Torquay, Woking and spurs.

Why I happened to choose Arsenal I don't really know, but I've been a gooner since. Didn't get to come over and see a live match until 2006 when I saw Arsenal - Blackburn at the Emirates. Since then I've been over three more times including the away match at Sunderland last season. And looking forward to many more :-)

I was in Bergen last summer....you live in a very beautiful country mate! you're very lucky.

I was camping/hiking with a friend, and we travelled from Haugesund to Trondheim, and quite simply, the Norweigen fjord's are as beautiful as anything I've ever seen.

We watched an Arsenal match in a Bergen pub, and despite being £5-6 a pint :? we had a great time 8)

Arsenal far more important than my national team.

Would like to see England win something. Not very likely. They are crap.

Also the standards of football that you see in the top club sides are WAY better than in national sides.
