Eboue
Fuck knows what your username refers to cobra kai, but welcome, I hope you enjoy it here.
I think when I first started posting on this forum, the first debate I got into related to Eboue and I said pretty much exactly what you've said on this thread. I thought, and think, he gets way too much criticism from Arsenal fans.
His imperfections are obvious. But the level of vitriol is unjustified for his technical failings (otherwise we'd be wankers, attacking every player who isn't instantly world class). And the attacks on his cheating don't justify the slagging either, not when you bear in mind how tolerant we are of other regular cheats, like Pires, Ljungberg, van Persie and Henry. But then they they were/are (a) more skilful footballers who are more important to our success and (b) less obvious about their cheating and more skilled at covering it up. As for leaving the boot in, I seem to remember that everyone's hero (including mine), Dennis Bergkamp, was regularly guilty of that sort of offence too.
Fans didn't like the fact that Eboue got picked so much last season. But that's hardly Eboue's fault.
I hate his cheating and histrionics, and I want him kept purely as a squad player, but the shit that has been thrown at Eboue has been out of proportion.

Up until recently I would agree with you here donaldo but I have to say that eboue's performances have improved greatly of late and I felt that he was by far our best player at fulham last week. Like many on here I am very concerned about theo's lack of progression of late but to be fair to the kid it is hard to progress when every time you play well wenger drops you for the next game.

I'll say this I'd rather have 1 eboue than 10 greedybayors

How is Theo going to progress when after he has his best game of the season he is dropped.Just like he was after the Sparta(2 goals)Birmingham(2 goals) and Liverpool(That Run)games. It seems however well he does play he cant get a regular run in the side. There were 11 terrible performances v Fulham yet only one player was dropped. The future is Theo not Eboue even if he did well on saturday

I did make the point about theo not being a fair crack by wenger in my original post donaldo so it's not like I disagreed with you on that point. I didnt think eboue was terrible v fulham but sometimes when a player stinks the place out of it, as eboue did for most of last season, any improvement at all is magnified mainly cos he was so poor previously and had been written off by so many

he's like marmite really (and thats not a racial reference!). i think he is made a scapegoat on far too many occassions, but he doesnt help himself by being a cheat. thats the side i hate. i think he balances the team well and links up nicely with the rest of our team. having said that, he didnt provide enough last season on the right, but as a full back should we expect much more. i think he needs a goal cos his confidence is lacking a bit, you can see how much a goal would mean to him.
he played well yesterday, and whilst i think he is best as a full back, he doesnt do as badly as people think on the right, he balances our team (im repeating myself). the problem is, when we have people in the bast like ljungerg on the right, we instantly think he is detrimental to the team. Until Theo can do it consistently, im happy if he plays.
also i saw some dude at half time who said in 22 years, eboue was the worst player he had ever sen play for arsenal - does anyone agree with this?
boefore you say yes, think of stepanovs, mendez, malz, caesar, kiwomya etc.

Welcome Cobra.
The problem with Eboue's cheating is that he's become the boy who cried wolf so when he has a legitimate claim, it often gets ignored - like against Fulham when THEY got a free kick for him being mauled. But I have to say he's decent for a squad player and improved this season. I also think he clearly is very popular within the squad.
Interestingly, on member's day he scored a few goals in training so i have a theory that he's ace all week so keeps getting picked and then shits himself on the pitch.
And i agree, Bendtner does my head in and him and Ade just dont work together.

I'm sorry - I can't quite agree with the sudden Eboue love-in because he has dived a little bit less than before or because he made a couple of good runs during an easy route of a very tired, over stretched and frankly piss poor Newcastle team... Let's not get carried away chaps.
He spent most of last season diving, whining and on a few too many occasions leaving the elbow or the foot in. That is not the midfield hardman we are calling for. Elbowing does not equate with dominating the middle of the park.
Eboue, to me, is a player with pace and a fair bit of skill. But that will always come second to him, because mentally he suffers from some sort of persecution complex; thus the fucking whining evertime he is tackled. And he would have to go ten games in a row without diving to win me over on that score...
A squad player at best if he stops diving and fucking whining...
