the good old days at highbury

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Went to Celtic vs Arsenal in pre season about 4 or 5 years back now. Most welcoming bunch of supporters I've ever met.

Although a scarey memory was the Millwall 88 one!

I remember there was a load of Millwall fans in the West Stand and in their wisdom they let the Arsenal and Millwall fans leave together!

I was leaving the ground on the North West corner (exit closest to Arsenal tube) with my mate Damon when this iron bar missed the pair of us by inches and caught this guy on the shoulder behind us! Poor sod was in agony!

Few inches one way and I wouldn't have been the handsome brute I am today!

I still have my arsenal/celtic hat!

Also, went to Celtic v Arsenal when we'd just signed Charlie Nicholas. We'd stayed pretty quiet during the game, but a Celtic fan spotted us as at the end (and I wasn't even wearing the hat!) and invited us back to their supporters club. What a night! At one stage one of the Celts apologised but said he was going home for his tea. He came back an hour later with a bag of green & white souveniers! I still have an old shirt and scarf he gave me. We even got told off by the stewards in the bar for wearing Celtic colours and singing Celtic songs as they weren't allowed to sing sectarian songs, not even in their own club. And at the end of the evening they ordered us cabs and came out en masse to wave us off as we went back to the station for our sleeper back to London! I've never been to Rangers - and in fairness a spuds mate says that they can be welcoming too - but Celtic really are something special....!!
