As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I mean say i came into work one day and couldn't be arsed to do anything, i popped down the pub for a couple of hours, didn't pick up the phone for anyone just generally took the pis%...... Would i get my manager coming up to me saying don't worry Craig you've been in for 4 days straight now it looks like your suffering from fatigue. Wenger knows every excuse in the book for why Arsenal lose. I would love to have him as my boss that's all i can say
This a high demand physical sport ffs not a office job. You're right though I mean we all knew even before the game kicked of at stoke we wouldn't put as much effort in as say Man u or Porto at home didn't you.
Cesc looks utterly burnt out atm, he needs to be rested for more than the Man City game imo
Like many others I don't doubt that they try. They're just simply not that good. Every now and then they show their full potential but it is not often enough to sustain a genuine title challenge.
AW has produced some fabulous and exciting players but this current crop are a long way from being the real deal. Hopefully time will prove them to be all we know they can be, but in the meantime we need some experience and steel in the side. You can but wish
from the kick off and formation chosen we lacked sharpness, awareness and the ability to pass the ball with fluency (why do we water the pitch when this mostly affects our passing and ability to stay on two feet?).
on saturday we often also went for the ball down the middle which went straight back to villa when we lacked someone with ability up front to hold and pass out wide....How many times did we pass the ball too short in the first 15 mins?
where was the holding midfield (denilson and cesc included) for the second goal and the chance in the first half when it was pulled back for barry( i think) and was saved-could have been worse when we ball watched instead of man marked)
Villa as we expect were organised and have some very young players in their team also. We didnt match them on the day due to poor performance, poor refereeing and lack of formation-why where two forwards on the bench in a home game with a midfielder playing the supporting role? After ten minutes you could see it just wasnt working.......
only clichy diaby and theo came out with any credit. Theo was poorly used in the second half free in space waiting for the ball which was not delivered when in the first half was skinning the defender...why was it changed? nasri was very quiet so he could have brought on vela to play wide like he did last season for the spanish club.
We pay a lot of money to see our team and we will continue to do this because of our devotion to the club. We can choose whether to sing or voice our opinion. At the end of the day being paid £50 000+ a week should be enough to get anyone motivated regardless of reaction from the fans. I would play for free ha ha and at least i would give my all-we would get beat every week though ha ha
motivation comes from within and if the players havent got this then its down to the manager. If he cant motivate them then either they should let someone in who will be or leave themself. No one minds if a team tries and looses but they all played as though they were playing together for the first time. The carling cup side play with a smile and as a team.
Mr wenger ........you need to sort it......

Yes this team and its players are nowhere near as good as some of our recent teams but are ye saying that they are not good enough to beat the fulhams, stokes, hull and sunderlands of this world ? Have we really sunk that low ?? As bad as things have got lately I really dont think we are that bad so then you have to look elsewhere for the reasons and a lack of interest and effort is a fair place to start. For any fan to claim that cos these guys are pro footballers there is no doubt that they care and always will give 100% is woefully naive to me these players are no different to me and you in that there are days that they just dont want to be at work and in greedybayor's case that is more often than not
Im not sure that its a lack of interest as you say Augie i think that there is something missing from the team well actually 3 or 4 things in my opinion missing, 3 or 4 experienced players that would compliment the players already there. We havent got a bad team and with the right purchases we have a very good team possibly championship chasing team. We need those players

I see your point augie but to be 'good enough' you need to be able to adapt to every situation and style of play. The fact that we lost to those clubs says that we're not very good at all. We are one dimensional. How often when you are watching a game do you find yourself knowing where the next pass is going? If you and I are able to predict it then our opposition must be able to as well. As soon as we come up against a 'non-purist' style of game we cannot cope. We are not allowed to play our normal style as the opposition won't allow it. We have no plan B and therefore get overun by them.
That's why I say we're not good enough. On our day we can beat anyone. On their day anyone can beat us. They just need to not let us play our game and we have no answer for them.
