i hate all this negativity but it has to be said, a combination of lack of confidence & simply not being good enough i'd draw the line at song, denilson & bendtner (out of who played today), there's far too much pressure on cesc to perform. on a positive note we look more solid at the back with djourou & gallas together (although gallas body language tells me he's off in jan) & also rvp & ade are a good combination, its time to get off adebayor's back, at least he can finish! 2 good signings in jan & its 4th for me.
I reckon 5th myself unless, as DBGooner points out, that villa fcuk it up or bottle it. Put simply we are nowhere good enough and I am no longer sure that 1 or 2 signings in jan will be enough to do any better
Stokeygooner, I am interested to know when you think is an ok time to turn on wenger seeing as you say that it is too soon now. years since a very luck cup win and a team that contained players of the class of DB10, PV4, pires and henry (I know he missed the final) have been replaced by players like song, eboue, bedtner and denilson so now we are not alone not winning trophies but our quality of players has gone through the fcuking basement

I'm hoping for this in January, it's not what I want - I want more, but i'm looking at it this way:
Almunia*
Sagna
Toure
Gallas*
Clichy
Nasri
Fabregas
Diaby
?
Adebayor
V.Persie
I reckon at best, we could get one decent midfield sided player in January. I'd like to see the marked* players sold & replaced at least by the end of the season, but this isn't a computer game - we all know it'll be later rather than sooner. I'd also like another midfielder to come in and challenge our wingers. For instance, Nasri doesn't turn up to away games for some reason. So there's pretty much the same line up, but with a new commanding GK, a tall CB made of sheer steel, a naturally left sided winger, and another all round decent midfielder who could challenge our LM/RM & CM positions just for healthy competition. For example, someone like hleb would be able to play in all 3 of those positions so it'd be a star find if we found someone like that.
realistic targets?
gk- lloris
df- lescott?
md- silva / ireland
cf - santa cruz?

your not far off either, im just thinking that upson lacks pace and mancienne lacks experience but would be a good one for development. and if only kolo could convince his bro to join usholloway@theherbert wrote:not a bad shout, although santa cruz is lower on confidence than bendtner! how about mancienne/upson CB & yaya toure DM

and yes santa cruz is low on confidence cos his head is elsewhere and he is bottom of the premierleague. how he'd refuse a move to us, in his current state, i'll never know.

It has been 4 soon to be 5 years since we won the league. Granted
However in that time we have reached the European cup final (which we should have won). We've never been there before.
We should have won the league last year but were unlucky with injuries (say what you want about squad depth but the players we had injured - and the manner Eduardo got injured makes a big difference).
In the last 4 years we have on our day produced football that is the envy of Europe.
We've moved stadium which is bound to have an effect.
Foreign billionaires...
I pay for half a season ticket every year, and as far as value for money goes i'm delighted. I don't buy one on the condition we win something and nor should anyone else!
Wenger gets given a hard time for not buying in the summer but his number two when it comes to transfers has only just been replaced (David Dein) and he has effectively been trying to do two jobs at once(the board has to take responsibility for that - although I don't blame them for thinking he could do it!)
Every club in the world would snap Wenger up before you could say 'Eboue'. We should count ourselves lucky he's chosen to be loyal to the Arsenal.
Lastly he is a Gooner.
Never write a Gooner off.
