ARSENE WENGER is becoming increasingly frustrated by a lack of transfer funds at Arsenal.
Despite being linked with numerous players, the Frenchman (below) has been told by the board that he has precious little money at his disposal this month.
Gunners chairman Peter Hill-Wood stated yesterday: “I don’t think there is a lot of money anywhere.
“One has got to look ahead – in the future there is probably not going to be much more money coming in.
“We have got money, but I am not sure we are going to spend a lot of it. We’ve got to continue to run the business in a sensible way. It may sound boring, but we are not going to rush out and spend fortunes on people who won’t help us achieve anything better than where we are at the moment.
“Arsene has a lot of young, talented players at the club and I think he will probably give a chance to one or two of them.â€

2 things here....
"Rush out"??erm... we've had MONTHS to finalise our transfer strategy for January, so I'm not sure why we'd have to "rush"... surely, that just suggests incompotence? Usually I would dismiss that, but after what happened (or didn't happen!) last summer, I do wonder....
"spend fortunes on people who won’t help us" - well that's great... even our Chairman is doubting Wenger's ability in the transfer market. Why doesn't Hill-Wood talk of spending money on players who WILL help us???

fella posts such as "the board must go" are associated with shit teams in the lower leagues and the likes of newcastle and that mob up the road from us.Calo wrote:well i do and the sooner the better
if you only come here to be nasty I suggest you are very sad person
to say the board must go is fucking stupid. have you actually thought it through? they are all shareholders so should they remain shareholders but just not be on the board?, should they sell their shares, if so to whom? who would want to buy their shares? who should be on the board in there place?. it was as usual a ridiculous post sense or reason.
i suppose it was silly really but i cant see any players coming and im desperate - i though my threat to do the ban might have infuence them - i dont like not knowing- the star says we have no money plus PHW said we not spending much anyway plus wenger doesnt really say anything excpet 1 or 2 % - how does he expect money when he says things like thatRadford149 wrote:fella posts such as "the board must go" are associated with shit teams in the lower leagues and the likes of newcastle and that mob up the road from us.Calo wrote:well i do and the sooner the better

Its frustrating to hear, but i dont believe it for a minute. wenger and the club are not going to come out and say we have money for transfers, but we obviously do as wenger has talked about two midfielders and the rumours surrounding arshavin seem genuine. If the board say we have x and y, clubs will rinse us, clubs also know we are desperate for signings to get in the top four. If we dont get in the champions league we lose £25m anyway and the rest. So like wenger says if he says a name it reduces the chances by 50%, goes public and its not the way we normally do things. If wenger is after a player, man city and the rest are going to be interested. im quitely confident we will get a couple of players in, including perhaps a loan deal.

It does make you wonder whether the board and Wenger are actaully communicating. For the last few years, we've had one set of plans and claims from the board and another set from Le Boss. I know that we are all getting fed up of the claims and denials about our transfer kitty and in all fairness, it would be nice for someone to actually give us the truth. Times may well be tough for football clubs at the moment and the flats on Highbury have obviously shrunk in value but really, compared to other clubs, especially those with massive debts due to take-overs, should we not be in a slighlty more liberated position and have a little bit of spare cash to flash. We need to be hell-bent on getting into the champions league and earning some of that money or we are going to be in big trouble both on and off the picth. The league challenge was over before we even got going this season and Europe holds little hope, so a signing or two now would enable the players to bed in and get used to the club before assessing the club's situation in June and July. I know it's pessimistic but perhaps we should be thinking about 4th and a cup run for this year and pin our slim hopes on activity over the summer holidays.

stop posting bollocks and you might be in with a chance, and even though i have many powers i do not have the power to influence spending policy of AW. and by the way neither do YOU
dont you like CL football?
yes but just qualifing for qulifying sake seems at times pointless unless we have a real chance of winning the thing so whats your point?

all veiws are welcome but you just do soundbites just to get a reaction that's not contributing.
