Would Arshavin be good for us

Who knows? I believe Wenger is very clever and particalur when is speaks to the media and is able to use them to his advantage.

Maybe he's trying to instigate a transfer of Arshavin as this has a knock on effect for the real possible target.

The whole thing is exactly like the Nasri signing. The interesting point is the fact Wenger has not denied it and given quotes such as 'special class' & 'Cup tied for CL is not important.

Expect to see Arshavin in the red shirt within the next couple of weeks. I have seen a lot of Arshavin and he is very similar to Hleb but he is very much better. On his day he is unstoppable and creates a lot more goals than he scores.

For all the people saying Â£20m, there is no way we will pay that, it will be more like Â£12-15m which in my opinion is a steal for this world class player.

thw agwent said zenit want him on one installment in the money but previously we have payed over the years (lie reyes)

Arshavin would be an excellent addition. People go on about him having only 'one good tournament' , but thats only because they saw him in one tournament. You look at his performances over the last few years he's been excellent. Pick up 4-4-2 this month if you can, got a good bit about him and how he would be perfect for an english team. Him in that Hleb role behind the strikers would give us some much needed options ala Pires.

Get Arshavin and a CDM and a goalkeeper and we'ld be looking good

But why didn't we see him pop up on the radar before he was 27?

Before ZSP's UEFA Cup run last season, he was an unknown to everyone.

To be fair though digger Drogba didnâ€™t really pop up on anyoneâ€™s radar until his last season at Marseille when he was probably about 25 or 26, around the same age as Arshavin was last season. And plenty of players have been on everyone's radar at 17/18 only to achieve f*ck all in the long run.

Iâ€™m not sure one way or the other about Arshavin yet as a lot depends on how & where weâ€™re gonna play him. I know we donâ€™t have orthodox wingers and they do have a certain amount of license to roam but I cant see that Wengerâ€™s old ploy of buying an attacking CM (like Rosicky or Hleb) and just putting him out on the wing would get the best out of him. For Russia & Zenit Arshavinâ€™s pretty much had both teams entirely built around him.

But he is talented as f*ck & IMO we need a genuine individual talent to balance out a bit the whole team approach that weâ€™ve taken to almost communist levels in recent seasons.

my understanding tonight on this is that zenit have told arsenal they will lower there asking price as long as arsenal cover fees for agents and a couple of other things...

Well I can only go by what I see, and I like what I see, I also seem to remember his international coach saying that he was the most intelligent player he'd ever worked with, and we know how highly AW rates a player's actual IQ as he nearly always refers to a player's level of intelligence when discussing them

People keep going on about Yaya, but really, if he wasn't Kolo's brother nobody would even really mention him. He's incredibly frustrating to watch at times, powerful but often lacks that bit of intelligence on the ball.
