We were lucky we were playing Roma and not a quality side, i dread to think what would have happened if we had been playing the likes of Barca they would have destroyed us on tonights showing.

Looking on the bright side we surely can't get any worse and who knows if we get a nice draw we could end up seeing one of the worst teams we have had for some years in the semi final of the champions league.

I'm stunned after this match.

Particularly with our approach to the game. The formation worked well at home but to line up man for man away from home was such a foolish decision by Wenger. Surely he didn't anticipate a similar game away from home? And when he made his subs I was baffled. We didn't need a goal especially but to bring Eduardo on, the finisher supreme, and fuck him out on the left defies belief. He had no impact on the game. How could he? Wenger is one lucky SOB.

Roma are/were shit.

Watch out Europe.....

that said my heart was in my mouth the whole time after halftime. knew we were not going to get a goal and was praying they wouldnt. when penalties came i had a bad feeling that Diaby, Denilson, and Walcott would miss. Great job to all the penalty takes for holding their nerve. Eduardo's take was exactly the same as van Persie's but the goalie went the opposite direction so it wasnt that bad of a take.

Can't believe some of the negativity on here, just read through some of the posts during the match, people really do over react. No, it wasn't a great performance, but let's not forget, that is one of the most intimidating atmospheres to play in in Europe, it was all about getting through tonight. We showed in the first leg how much better technically we are than them, unfortunately thanks to Eboue and Bendtner we couldn't finish the tie, but to go a goal down inside 10 mins and then hold on and have the nerve to win a penalty shoot out under immense pressure gives me a lot of pride in the boys. In this competition it doesn't matter how you get through, just as long as you do it. I genuinely believe we've got as good a chance as anyone to win this, and the psychological boost of tonight and the circumstances of the win may just give us the edge.

I care.

I'd rather go out tonight than be humiliated in the next round. There isn't a weak team left in the comp. I doubt we can stumble our way through again.

Perhaps it's just me but I feel really shit after tonight.

Blimey, we go through and people even want to pick holes in the players who scored penalties because they thought they might have missed! Just enjoy the result!

It was a poor performance but without Cesc we miss the whole heartbeat of the team. It didnt even seem right them celebrating without him. With him back, and a bit of luck, we could go further. At the risk of sounding like wenger, the team just need some belief... :barscarf:

Hope the gooner who was injured is ok and all the others get home safely. night :goingtobed:

Sorry mate, I do feel at our best we can match up but after tonight I'm so dissapointed.

No one will convince me Roma are a great shakes, I'd say after two legs the footballing equivilant of ooohhh.... West Ham? Pretty shit really and if you can't knock em off convincingly you've no chance.

So this mo fo shall be watching whoever we don't draw. JCL's got nothing on me... 8)
