It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

(Hypothetically) Imagine if civilization was wiped out and when new humans eventually evolved and came back and say the only books they found were The Lord of the Rings and the Silmarillion. They could think that it was real history and that there really was a ring of power and that Sauron was the devil. Sounds crazy right? Well so doesthe Holy Grail, Noah's Arc, and Jesus being resurected...

It's all fairy tales...sorry.
Agree 100%, i always use that what if they had found harry potter insted of the bible lol.

Well you know what viewpoint I am coming from but even the most scientific of moinds must be open to other possible explanations, holding fast to enquiry and investigation as the supreme cause of all:

1.) The existence of a "year" as an absolute fixed period of time in early years of existence is questionable.
The elements of the universe that help define time, were not created at the start of creation..ie. sun, moon and stars.

So it may be that 'time" was defined very differently in the early stages of the big bang.

2.) Possible that time is exactly as described in the bible, but that fossils are placed in the earth by G-D and made to appear "old" as a test of faith.

3.) Possible that the two massive floods described in the bible, churned the earth up to such an extent that the science of archaeology is only valid for the past three thousand years or so.

Things are in layers in the earth, the oldest being the lowest layers, but such huge flooding would have turned the earth's surface layers into a massive stew where everything swirled around, then settled later on in a random order.

4.) Evolution can be shown to be true for the adaptation of species to change in the environment, in our period of history under modern environmental conditions, I agree.

But it has not been proven that humans evolved from humanoid type creatures.

Perfectly possible that modern humans appeared, as superficially similar creatures to apes, but actually not evolved from them.

At present it comes down to faith and belief, because most of this has not been proven conclusively one way or the other.

There are animals mentioned in the bible that do not currently exist, such as Leviathan and the Tachash.

Who is to say that these were not what are called by scientists "dinosaurs"?

Nothing Bill Hicks says contradicts my original point number 2, there is also the mention in Genesis of a chaotic world order that existed before this one.
It is possible that that is the world of dinosaurs.
