I also meant to add .....plumbuk why dont you just fcuk off to whatever little shit hole you came from and stop insulting other members on this forum. Insulting other members is never the way to go on here but you havent contributed anything positive to even be allowed any leeway so just piss off

Seems to be the way augie...people coming over from the other forum either giving each other big love or carrying over vendettas...and Radford is not innocent here (re Calo).

I have a few contrasting opinions on what happened -

I totally agree that sometimes quartz's postings can come across as very patronising. He sometimes talks like he is in the know in much the same way that myles palmer does (and we know how popular he aint on here ). However, while it used to bug me a lot in the beginning, it longer does bug me and I feel that the guy does not intend to be patronising at all but it is just the way he is. Yes he has strong opinions but that also applies to a lot of us on here including gus and wayno. Yes he can come across as having a vendetta against van persie but that is no different to lethal's "obsession" with eboue or my major dislike of song (useless c**t )

On the other side I, like a hell of a lot of members on here, really enjoy gus and wayno's contributions to this forum. Occasionaly they can be a volitile combination when mixed together but by and large their humour and banter have been major factors in the riswe of popularity of this forum. That they started off with objections to quartz as a mod I can see and hopefully they too can see in hindsight that they may have carried their objections a tad too far. They, and they are far from alone on here, believe that the humour, banter and general all round piss takes have been phased out around here as a more "functional and pc attitude" takes control and they appear to see quartz as a symbol of that change (I disagree with them on that for what it is worth). I feel that they would probably prefer if someone of a similar mindset was made a mod thus ensuring the traditions of this forum continued and maybe they should have stayed arguing that point to which they would have received a lot of support. Instead they have come out of this looking like it was a personal attack on quartz rather than what they feel he stands for.

I believe that every member of this forum should feel the right to express their opinions on everything and that includes the selection of mods. I dont know that selecting a mod should become a popularity contest as has been suggested but clearly there are some members (myself included) who may not be right for the job as their very presence seems to rile and annoy other members (maybe as a result of previous debates). Whether quartz fits into that category or not is up to the masses to say but personally I would have zero problems with his "promotion". However I think that it would greatly improve the site in terms of quality and morale if we can "seduce" all three members back into our Gooner family again as this place wouldnt be the same without them and I for one have spent far too many hours of enjoyment on here just let this fade away

I am sorely disappointed that Gus, Wayno and Quartz feel they had to leave. Christ, we all have diferent viewpoints on everything, that's why a forum works - a taste of this a taste of that. To have three regulars fall out so spectacularly is sad. I'm not gonna proportion blame because all 3 are entitled to their opinions, but some of the stuff directed at Quartz was a tad OTT in my personal opinion. I've always found Quartz intelligent, polite and respectful.

Now, this is only my opinion but I think what happened is that Wayno and Gus (like myself) come from the older generation of members on here that joined in early 2007 when this forum was fairly low key and quiet. They rightly feel that they contributed a hell of a lot towards getting this place really going and making it so popular. I believe they also (again like me) feel that there is a new agenda on here to change the rough and tumble, free for all atmosphere to something that will be less intimidating or off putting to new members and/or possible advertisers. Whether asking Quartz to become a mod was viewed as a step in that direction by Mike and Kev or whether Quartz would have made a good mod or an overly PC mod is unknown. But I can understand the lads reaction (even if I cannot agree with their execution of that reaction).

I hope Quartz, Gus and Wayno all put this behind them and rejoin. It will be a lesser forum with out them.

Also, I'm getting a serious pain in my hole with these continuing fucking bitching sessions that seem to be constantly spilling over to here from the .com shitpile. Seriously, why don't you fuckers use new names when you join here and enjoy a fresh start and quit inflicting your petty little squabbles on the rest of us. WE DON'T GIVE A FLYING FUCK WHAT WENT ON OVER AT THE .COM WANKPILE. LEAVE IT OVER THERE.

Mods - can we ban the next .com cuntslop that joins here to continue their personal vandetta against some other cuntslop from .com?

Its a loss to the forum that these 3 have gone. Each had their own strong personality on here and each contributed in some way to the overall feel of the forum. Time will tell how big a difference their absence makes.

Gus and Wayno are particularly big losses in my opinion, as we are slowly losing the characters that made the forum so good back when I first joined. Hell, I'm still on here now so they must have been doing something right back then!

Jesus. Not on here for 48 hours and WW3 has broken out. Augie has pretty much summed up my feelings above. I really hope and pray that all 3 re-consider and come back to us. I have had disagreements with all of them but at its best the banter and friction on here is what makes it so great. This Forum will definitely have lost hugely if they don't return.

Please reconsider guys.

WTF has gone on. I only use this forum during the week, basically when i'm at work and i come in on a monday to this...

Wayno, Gus and Quartz were pretty key in keeping me on this forum when i first joined about a year ago. I agreed and disagreed with all three of them. But they offered that blend of banter, intelligent chat and randomness that every forum needs to stay fresh. They were all regular posters and gave a good flavour of what you could expect to see on here. They all responded pretty accordingly to my posts in their own unique way, and you get to know these 'virtual' people and understand what they are trying to say, even if you disagree with the wording.

The remarks made to Quartz were quite harsh and a little uneccesary and i'm really disappointed to read the contents of that thread. I can only imagine that it just started badly and got out of hand and on any other day it could have been a lot more sensible, maybe not but i would like to think so.

I agree with other posters that Quartz's post were very intelligent and well thought through, but so were Gus and Wayno's, except they often posted a lot of other material and non football related stuff, but that should not detract from the more meaninful posts.

Its a real shame that these guys have decided to move on and i hope they come back in with some new user names and perhaps start afresh with this behind them.

This does bring to a head the sad fact there is a real habit for threads to turn nasty pretty quicly on here. People are fully entitled to their own opinion and it should be left at that. Someone who has posted no abuse, only what they think should be treated respectfully and if you disagree convince them otherwise and if you can't so be it.

One of the reasons i started my weekly guess the attendance thread was because there is nearly always some form of abuse on any given thread and the guess the attendance one is one of the few on here where all of the above plus newbies and other regular posters have all had a say and not a single piss take or abusive comment has been made to any one else. If you can do it for a laugh you can be sensible and carry it on elsewhere.

Whatever gus, wayno, Quartz decide, take a lesson from this and lets all play nice.
