To a degree maybe, but you also have to wonder why it was only Song trying to close down first Rossi then Senna. We had supposedly 2 players in the holding DM position last night, Song & Denilson.

It wasn’t the smartest play by Song cos as usual he got suckered into blindly chasing the ball head down like a dog - albeit a slow, quite possibly retarded dog… http://www.imotion.com.br/imagens/data/ ... Droopy.jpg ! But where the f*ck was everyone else?
i think they have different roles into the team...denilson can play center midfield but song is the man athletichally more strenghted, he hasn't to create plays e has defensive role..

Yeah but when we don’t have the ball & the opposition are on the edge of our box it’s not just the responsibility of the designated DM to close them down! It’s the responsibility of everyone, & especially those who are supposed to be closest to wherever the ball is, which in this case would be Song and Denilson as they were both playing deeper lying CM roles & the ball was in “theirâ€

He is, I've just seen the goal again, and Denilson is in no mans land behind Song, whilst Song goes from one player (the player Denilson should be marking) and then attempts (very slowly) to close Senna down.

My impression with Song was he simply had too much ground to cover and he is far from quick, I think someone else should have been closing down.
