Wenger - We're not far away from Man United

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

The manager and the board knew the implications of finishing 4th this season with the possibility/probablity of a tough draw to make the group stages so they should have made more of an effort to secure that 3rd spot :x It is not like we were flying it up until the end of jan and then went downhill cos we were adrift from oct/nov so the need to invest was obvious in jan but still we did fcuk all and what we did do we waited until the last seconds to secure that deal  Can you imagine where we would be if we hadnt secured arshavin in jan ? Even the europa league wouldnt be a certainty  If we wait until after the qualifying round is over to buy the much needed quality players then we deserve to get knocked out and then we will see where the standing of our manager is

We've made huge strides this season according to La Boss.

21 games unbeaten, two fantastic cup runs, loads of internationals in the squad, desire/spirit second to none, potential........well just wait and see, it's the best set of players he's ever had. At the moment we're the 4th best side in Europe apparently.

I'm very optimistic of another aimless, meandering, profit-making season next year.

Bring it on.

He has been giving out the same twaddle over the last three yrs on how the youngsters will gain experience blah, blah, blah and that we not far behind manure?and that this batch of youth will dominate the league
I sometimes wonder if he watches the same games as i do because what i've seen is that there are not good enough full stop and as far as i can see is a repeat of this season next yr and the next unless he comes of his fantasy world. How long does he expect fans ,who pay through the nose ,to wait for this team to win ,and that's a big IF,a trophy. We have a great stadium but not a great team!and if it persists with this stubbornness of the policy of just youth i believe, some might think it won't happen, attendance's will suffer and ONLY then will the board re-act.
Wenger HAS to buy 2/3 experienced players to blend with the youth to create a great team to realistically challenge for titles and cup's and compete on a level par with the scum up north!!!!It's ok showing faith and confidence with these player's but i think it's time some were shown the door and if it means wenger starting all over again so-be-it!!!

We are NOT too far from Man United, Arsene is bang on.

They're from Surrey, we're from Highbury. That's only about a hour's drive!

A country mile. The whole big 4 thing is a myth. There is no longer a top four. There is a top 3, with a chasing pack that consists of ourselves, Villa, Everton and from next year onwards Man City.

It's only called a top four because of CL placings for the Prem clubs. If it was only the top three who qualified there would only be a "big three".

Depressing but sadly true

Depressingly, you're right. The last few months have seen the media referring to the "big three" anyway, they only mention fourth when they're talking directly about Arsenal :(
