Not for a second do I think that Luzhny was the worst ever signing, but look at Blackburn's second goal in the 01/02 season at Ewood Park, that sort of defending would give you nightmares !
Unless you've watched the current team's attempts at defending of course.
Arsene's Worst Signing?

Sorry guys but I don't think it's that much of a conundrum, sport is littered with examples of youngsters who were thought to be the next superstar whose career's stuttered because they didn't progress far enough fast enough and lost their way and their confidence, but with a little bit of experience and maturity went on to pursue solid careershadareud wrote:that's a good question, I don't know the answer to that.flash gunner wrote: When does form become ability? jeffers. i remember last game of the season 01/02...henry kept setting chance after chance on a plate to give him a goal and some confidence and he kept missing until FINALLY bagging! he scored a couple of important goals v chelsea and wba but for the fee involved he was piss poor.
aliadere as well...basically transfer wise a free yeah but waste of time and investment. no passion or drive. was like playing with 10 men up front on his own.
i think i remember cos of the weekly FA video panel suspension/injuries wenger had to put stepanos in the team in 01/02 for a few games and everyone bricking it but luckily we came though unscatched and he played well with even talk of him getting a new contract!
reyes was unplayable for a spell of 10 games and we didnt make that much of a loss on him so gets a pass from me. as does wreh who scored in three 1-0's at the end of 97/98. bargain! richard wright had worldy after worldy at ipswich but maybe he found the pressure to much at arsenal.

I recall Richard Wright putting in a very assured display in a 2-0 win at Pride Park which I think was his debut making me believe he could be the longterm sucessor to the ailing David Seaman.
Mattie Upson also had Ravenelli in his pocket that day.
Then the next midweek Wright saved a penalty at home against Panathiankos and I was convinced !
