Protest at Stoke game

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Arsenal fans are beginning to brown me off big time. Most of them put in as much effort to a game as Adebarndoor on a bad day. I have no liking whatsoever for Leeds but all respect to the fans for staying on and cheering their team like crazy after losing to Millwall. That's support, not some pathetic protest because your team finished fourth in the most competitive league in the world. Why don't you grow some balls and show what it means to support a team ?

After 40 years I guess I've earned the right to "whinge and moan" mate and will fuckingwell do so whenever I feel like it. When I first started supporting The Arsenal in 1968 we had'nt won a thing since the league title in 1953 so please don't tell me that I've "grown fat on the success of the early Wenger years" I've seen some awful shite in my time, worse than we're seeing now so I do have some kind of perspective on what's happening now. I earned the right to "whinge and moan" going to support us away to wham in the mid 70s when it was'nt a pleasant experience to say the least  I earned my right to "whinge and moan" braving the OKR away to Millwall, dodging glasses and bottles. I earned the right to "whinge and moan" by sitting on countless trains to northern shiteholes, shunted up a fucking siding outside Crewe for an hour in the freezing cold. I earned my right to "whinge and moan" getting stoned at Wolverhampton, getting split up from mates and the rest of us and getting chased at Leicester, getting my head cracked open by a "flying object" away to Norwch in the 70s and numerous other incidents with ob and opposing fans. None of which ever stopped me for a second from wanting to go and support The Arsenal anywhere. Any time I feel like a "whinge and a moan" I'll have one if that's ok with you  As a rule I don't leave early from the new concrete bowl, certainly not to get the train home in time to see the fucking x factor on a saturday/whatever other reason  but yes, I left at 3-0 against the manc vermin last week to go to the boozer and I'll apologise to nobody for that. I'll deal with my disappointments in my own way than you very much and as someone who supported us home and away during some very bad seasons in the 70s and 80s I will "whinge and moan" whenever the fuck I feel like it.

Well said Charlie - good to see IHH has noted the lack of respect on another thread i.e. anyone saying "Fuck off and support Chelsea / Mancs / Spuds / any other such tossers", can do so themselves.

Perhaps if you stand up constantly singing mindless songs and licking Arsene's arsehole morning, noon and night, you may earn respect from those who started watching in the late 90s. I know which breed of fan I'd rather be associated with

I don't think we should do any kind of protest as it sends across the wrong msg to the players who have tried and done well this season. Denilson for example, he might not of had the best season but is it he's fault he has been thrown in at the deep end??? No, he has constantly worked his bollocks off this season and tried to do his best for the team.

I feel that protesting against the team could potentially make our good players want to leave (who wants to be in a negative environment) and 'put off' any potential new signings from joining the club because of the abuse they might get from the crowd if things go wrong.

We have already publicaly humiliated Song and Eboue who have both vastly improved since and the reception Bendtner was getting at one point was awful.

When the england fans were booing the team at wembley large sections of the players and media were saying the team were starting to get scared of playing at wembley and this reflected in the results. Do we really want our players being scared/nervous (especially as a lot of them are young) when we play at home because this won't help them.

I know a lot of people are unhappy and I am one of them but i'm don't think protesting is the way to go about it. I don't know what the better way is but lets at least give recogntion to the players who deserve some credit for their efforts this season.
