WENGER DEMANDS RESPECT FROM FANS
again, nobody seems to have watched the press conference where he made the comments. All he said criticism is fine, as long as it's respectful.
If you don't think that the most successful manager we've ever had deserves a little respect I don't know what to say.
btw, do you think any other of the top club managers would attend such a meeting and actually discuss things with the fans/shareholders? Because I don't.
You are moaning about something that he didn't say and it seems you are moaning because you would like him to have said it. One bloody headline is enough to send you off in a shower of rage. Absolutely ridiculous.

I cannot disagree with anything you said there Steve if it were just about criticism, but I was not at the meeting so I have to rely on independent reports instead of making my own judgement on events that's why I said in my post, perceived or not, Wenger sez that he was disrespected and that and that alone is what he refused to take, and in my experience the accusation that someone must think he's above criticism has been used many times in this exact situation, when the real issue is constructive criticism as opposed to downright disrespect!
I'm sure if you asked some of the shareholders in question they'd maybe admit to bein a bit naughty but if they're anything like me the adrenaline gland would have been pumpin when you put your hand up and went into overdrive when the finger was pointed in your direction and you make your point a bit too vigorously for fear of being a damp squib in a when it came to the crunch!
At the end of the day no major damage has been done AW has IMO absolutely 1 million percent worked out the reasons behind the night's events cos he is an intelligent man, he has been given the proverbial shot across the bows but from his point of view he wants to nip any disrespect in the bud, and for the record I don't buy into the theory that he was issuing a thinly veiled threat when he said that Real's project was "interesting"

Someone said to me, if you treat fans like customers, don't be surprised if they complain!
Is there truth in this? Yes, it would appear so with some of the newer fans. I have no issues with this as some of us have been marginalised by the club and simply don't go anymore.
Wenger was hung out to dry by the board in that Q & A and I would hang them out to dry! They should never have put him through that at that time.
Wenger knows he has the support of the REAL Arsenal fans.
VENT YOUR ANGER?FRUSTRATIONS OUT ON THE BOARD WHO ARE NOT SUPPORTING ARSENE!

If I was talking about one question i could see why you are saying me and others were being ridiculous.hadareud wrote:again, nobody seems to have watched the press conference where he made the comments. All he said criticism is fine, as long as it's respectful.

However, I am not. I am talking about certain actions of our manager this season and some of them have detracted from the undoubted respect I have for the man.

just how was wenger left out to dry by the board
i am no fan of the board but you are wrong on this, he got a bit of criticism which was to be expected and was about time as the agm is normally just full of yes men who are afraid to open there mouths,
as for the comment that wenger has the support of the REAL arsenal fans
its quiet obvious that he doesnt ,you are another of the fuck off and support someone else for having a different opinion to you
so didnt expect anything else
ever try and get a mind of your own

He's turned this club around on a shoe sting..............board/shareholders etc need to fuckin show respect............he's made em their dividends and busts a gut for the club..............I'm glad he gave Arsenal Board a scare because they will appreciate him and what he's done. Enabled us to punch WELL ABOVE our weight.
Q & A should never have happened after two important defeats and put Wenger in the spot light at such a time.
The real fans are those who would not dis respect him like some did in that meeting................
I dont ask for people to go to UTD or chelsea as they will do it for themselves............maybe when we finish 7,8,9th, we'll see who will still be at the Bowl.............

not really true now is it, i see your point about the jcls but all you have to do is read any arsenal message board and you will see that wenger doesnt have the 100% support of the real fans and im not talking about the people who go to the home games and contribute little to the club except spend money in the armoury etc,,basilbrush14 wrote:Who ever said the real fans go to the emirates? haha!
Wenger knows who supports him away from home and in the pubs around N London. Fans have been marginalised and replaced by JLC's and others who do nothing for the atmosphere of the team but are wanted because they by the merchandise.
a lot of people on here are life time gooners and arent afraid to voice there own opinions on wenger be they right or wrong
He never said the Home fans aren't real fans, he just said that the Away fans are real fans. We all know that the Emirates isn't full of rel fans, but there's a majority of people who love the Club and Wenger knows it. This season, many times he praised the fans after home games (like against Man Utd in Champion's League).

It's quite simple really, at away matches there is a better more close knit atmosphere of like-minded hardcore fans as you're not gonna travel the length and breadth of the country unless you're a disciple so you're not gonna stand there with your thumb up your arse all day!
You can then be assured that nobody's gonna look at you as if you've two heads if you try to start a song and for what a relatively small group outnumbered 20-1 can achieve just look how 3,000 of us have out sung the Mancs at OT as they did to us in the semi-final 2nd leg at The Grove!

Just a couple of thoughts that I wouldn't mind seeing people's opinions on:
If Wenger had absolutely no money to spend this season. Potentially Nasri was paid for with the Hleb money and Arshavin was aquired from money raised through the sell on clauses from Bentley and Diarra. Then have we actually overachieved this season?
There seems to be a lot made about our high ticket prices (rightly so) especailly as the economy is f*cked at the moment. If there were a fair few tickets available for around 20 quid would we be slightly more forgiving?
Whenever a manager starts to have a go at supporters their days are starting to become numbered. Like when politicians state that they will definitely not resign, we all know what will happen...

Juan,
Good point......we left Highbury and knew we were going to be paying more for the privilage on the basis the money would go toward us competing for the best players.
This is not the case as the board have to pay themselves nice fat dividends every year and commensurate salaries and are content to finish top 4 and treat us like mugs from the top down to the stewards and eroding our traditions that made Arsenal what it is today.
Now we get Wonder of you sung by a Yank and I am sure we will soon be playing music after we score a goal, (they did this at Spurs I remember a while back). Oh and that ridiculous thing where we have to chant the players surname. Yuk
£20 would be nice buit it would only be done to pacify the masses.

We can vote with our feet- we have 2 choices. I am a red member like many here who are allegedly getting quite close to the silver membership. To me the benefit of this would be the fact that I could sit where I want to ie lower tier either just l or r of back of goal, preferably near reds or away bit for the atmosphere,OR at the side, not too far from the front.
What I have therefore decided for next season is to only buy my 2 tkts for the games I can make ( work permitting) ONLY for either £32 or £35 quid. This season I paid anything up to £92, but enough is enuff! It means I will miss all grade A games & will rely a lot on t/ex, & getting 2 together on that aint always easy. I dont care about that cos I am fed up paying through the nose to sit where I least want to, & I cant understand the pricing of the upper rear sections, especially 4 " A" games.
I know about supply & demand & maximising revenue, but sorry, it just aint value in my opinion. My first live game was in the 83/84 season & I never thought it would come to this as we stood on the North Bank over the years. I actually thought the new ground may have made it more affordable, but silly me forgot that we would have to pay(through the nose) for it!
It isn't sadly just about the cost, but many rants on here recently have made me realise that it aint just me, & it isn't the same anymore. I will enjoy Stoke 2morrow, then who knows- could be the end of an era. I sincerely hope not.
