WHY STAND UP FOR THE SCUM?

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

SORRY SMOOTHY, BUT I'M WITH RILO II ON THIS ONE. WHO IS TO SAY THAT THESE PEOPLE AREN'T ARSENAL FANS EVERY BIT AS MUCH AS THE LIKES OF ME AND YOU.

AS REBEL ALLUDED TO EARLIER, JUST THINK OF ALL OUR IRISH FANS THAT MAYBE ONLY GET OVER ONCE OR TWICE A YEAR. OR THOSE FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD THAT MAY HAVE SAVED SPECIFICALLY FOR A TRIP TO SEE THE ARSENAL. WHAT DO YOU WANT THEM TO DO, SIT DOWN QUICKLY AND NOT MAKE A SHOW OF ENJOYING THEMSELVES AND THE EXPERIENCE?

WE WERE ALL AWE-STRUCK, I PRESUME, ON OUR FIRST VISIT TO FOOTBALL AND THEREFORE IT IS LOGICAL THAT PEOPLE WOULD WANT TO TAKE IN AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE - INCLUDING PHOTO'S!! ESPECIALLY WHEN THE GROUND IS AS BEAUTIFUL AS OUR ONE IS. 8)

I KNOW THERE WERE PLENTY OF PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSPORT NETWORK ON THE NIGHT AS WELL, AND BY THE SECOND HALF YOU COULD SEE THE GROUND WAS FULLER THAN IT HAD BEEN EARLIER.

SO IN CONCLUSION, YOU WERE A LITTLE HARSH WITH YOUR EARLIER COMMENTS MATEY AND YOU SHOULDN'T MAKE ASSUMPTIONS OF THOSE PEOPLE WITHOUT KNOWING THE WHOLE STORY.

BY THE WAY, I THOUGHT THE ATMOSPHERE AT THE GAME WAS THE BEST YET THIS SEASON, AND THAT WAS MAINLY DUE TO THE NEWCOMERS. 8)

Yeh i missed the Kick off, got stuck on the tube down from Cockfosters.

And I was in the Blue Quad an I thought the Atmosphere was pretty decent.

However i was sat in Row 3, thats a bit poor as its hard to tell whats goin on sometimes.

ok picture this people! someone in the middle of your row not only turns up 20 minutes late but they goto the pie shop 3 times in the 1st half then has the cheek to ask you to sit back so they can take a picture of there mate WHILST the game was being played. so you can see why i'm slighty pissed

FAIR ENOUGH SMOOTHY, BUT THAT WASN'T A REASON TO SLAG OFF ALL THE PEOPLE THAT MAY NOT BE REGULARS LIKE YOU AND I.

IF YOU WERE ONLY SLIGHTLY PISSED IT'S BECAUSE THEY PROBABLY WATER DOWN THE BEER!!

to be honest (and Im probably a new arsenal fan (to some) as in i have only been going to arsenal games for the last 15 years, im 26 now) i love singing anti spurs songs I agree that arsenal fans should be singing all through the game for there club. i always 'stand up' coz i hate em. the spurs games are the best I have ever been too. and no one can tell me they didnt enjoy singing 'are you watching tot e nam' alfter beating parma. sing for arsenal for start to finish but there is nothing wrong about hating spurs

The Arsenal at that game were fantastic..and I have pretty high standards! At times, made me feel pretty fucking special. Agreed, nothing wrong with hating sp**s, within reason..

For them it's like looking on in envy at the neighbour who has just built a nice new extension...and their kids are high acheivers!

I n't believe what i'm hearing, people moaning about anti **** songs whatever next tsk tsk.. Are you suggesting then that we stop "the wanky tottenham hotspur", "lasagna", "hark now hear", "we'll be running round tottenham", what do you think of tottenham" etc It's only natural that we sing about our rivals and it's part of a football rivalry every club has it. I remember watching the sunderland **** game on the box and they sung "stand up if you hate Arsenal literally every 2mins in the first half.

Fair play it's not my favourite song/chant in fact it's our worst and it's just infront of "we've got Cesc Fabregas". It's funny though because when you sing "stand if you hate tottenham" it only takes a few secs for everyone to be standing but when it's "stand up for The Arsenal" the amount of people who join in is shocking. But it really doesn't matter because thos type of chants (stand up ones) mean fuck all because people pnly stand up for a brief time doesn't even take 1min for everyone to be sitting down again. If you're gonna sing that shit might aswell stand for the whole game. We should do what i've seen before, start with stand up for The Arsenal (to get everyone on thei feet) and then jump up for The Arsenal and then sit down for The Arsenal and repeat. Firstly it ain't the same boring shit and lastly it is visualy stunning.
