Carlos Vela

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Mate, I promise you that Vela has NOT been 20 for the last 5 years! - I think you're getting him confused with Obafemi Martins! :-P

I like Vela he's got a lot of ability and i would like to see him get more chances this season, although so far he has showed no consistency in the opportunities he has had i think he just needs more time in the first 11 to adapt to the rigours of premiership football, when he does i think he will be a hell of a player for us or whoever buys him off us.

At most he got on for the final 15 or 20 minutes last season  How will we know how good the lad might turn out if we don't put faith in him :?:

Give him a chance and pour what little money we have into defensive players.

Still not sure if he has the strength needed to make it this season but certainly have high hopes to be a very useful option in the next one.

I think he's the most promising world beating star on the back of a handful of Carling Cup games since Quincy and Jerome Thomas

When he does something of note in the Premiership I'll change my mind

I have a lot more hope for Vela than Simpson, who let's remind ourselves couldn't get off the bench for a shite, relegated West Brom side.

Nobody mentioned him until he scored a couple in the beer cup last year and then all of a sudden he was the next Ian Wright. Let's keep things in perspective.

As for Vela, bags of talent but so far he has looked too lightweight in my opinion. Certainly not ready to be considered a regular anyhow.

I watched the game on sunday and when he came on at half-time he made an instant impact. He made some good runs and showed real class with some good speed. The finish of his goal was great and I was extremely happy that Mexico beat America. He does need to bulk up a bit but give the boy some time and he will come through 8).

Same America that were so crap at the Confederations Cup?
America C side so no.

Still don't think this is going to be Vela's year but I hope for great things in two

The yanks out in Austria kept saying that too, why did they put out a weakened team?
