Zidane says we bid 17 million for Huntelaar

Zidane says we bid 17 million for Huntelaar

Post by hadareud »

but failed.
Real Madrid special adviser Zinedine Zidane has also told journalists that Arsenal bid £17m for Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, but the Holland striker, also a target for Tottenham Hotspur, is closing in on a move to AC Milan.

You are very selective in what you are prepared to believe aren't you hadareud?

Personally, I think it more likely AW called his mate to let slip something for the PR machine. Another one we tried for... In three years we will never know how close we came to signing him.

not that I care.

But it proves that we're not inactive in the transfer market. Hill-Wood also said that Wenger wants to sign another 2 players.

edit: Zidane is Wenger's mate? Didn't know that.

I dont think he would pay 17mil for anyone, especially after he spend big money on Arshavin.

Looks like its the sales for us, Chamakh, Matuidi unknown (french or african) youngsters with potential  . But at the rate this squad is getting injured anything would do.

Vintage PHW this morning -

"Arsene is talking about adding one or two to the squad and there is a certain amount of money he has to spend. If Arsene wanted to buy a decent player he could, as long as the figure was not ridiculous"

Giving with one hand and taking away with the other. Yes Arsene you can sign players but just not any that might cost over £750,000. While you and I would consider 30/40 million on a player "ridiculous" whats the betting PHW thinks it's 15???

It doesn't prove anything because it is just a press quote attributed to Zidane. Zidane himself has not been publicly recorded saying this in an open arena.

Nothing more than hearsay!

If the story is true and the bid was turned down by Huntelaar it is very depressing.

I always thought we´d have a good chance of signing Huntelaar, even before he went to Madrid, because I read somewhere that DB10 is his role model. That raised my hopes DB10 could impinge on him to follow in his footsteps at AFC. :?

Fee agreed with AC milan for 15 million. Should be a done deal by end of the day.

I get a feeling we have missed out on this one....
