Zidane says we bid 17 million for Huntelaar

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Huntelaar £10m cheaper than Greedybayor.Do me a favour.Huntelaar would have got 20 league goals for us the amount of chances we create.

So we will end up with Chamakh or Kalou for £7m. :(

Arsenal big club??????

I know some of you will scoff when I say this but I am finding it very hard to find any slight reason to be optimistic heading into the new season :( Even when I am posting my realistic/negative posts I generally see grounds for optimisim but they are usually outweighed by the concerns I have (no quality DM, no commanding centre back, average al in goals etc) but right now I am as low as I have felt for a long long time. I know that a few quality signings at this stage can change everything about but how many are confident of that happening ? Being honest I am embarrassed listening to the shit that is spewing from wenger and hill-wood and totally embarrassed by our lack of ambition

Agree completely - don't feel guilty about feeling embarrassed and let down by the club. This has been coming ever since the flawed moved to the Emirates. That is has not collapsed more spectacularly to date is entirely down to the mediocrity that has existed outside of the Premier League's top four. That position is changing dramatically and just as is the case in most of the other top European leagues the playing field is being levelled out. One season of finishing outside of the top four and that's us fucked. I've heard the bollocks about us being able to sustain a season without CL football but that works on the arrogant assumption that it would only be for one season. We would undoubtedly lose our top players as I refuse to believe there is any deep rooted loyalty (Tony Adams style) from any of the current crop and we will no longer have the current draw to foreign players of CL football.
Still the vast majority of the fan base wanted the switch to the Emirates (no doubt brainwashed by the club's propaganda machine) so you reap what you sow

Finishing outside the top four will probably prompt the board to announce a sale to Silent Stan. They will trumpet that it will allow us to compete. We've been played like fools. A small amount of the money we have poured into the football club being re-invested back into the team over the last four years would have allowed us to challenge.

Another summer of big transfer profits being banked by greedy, shares-orientated board members and an unbalanced, injury prone squad we're meant not to question. And to cap it all off; it's our fault. Our fault Emirates is too quiet when we're toldto sit down. Our fault Ade/Eboue wanted to/wants to leave when they take the piss on and off the pitch.

I think we have a lot to look forward to in terms of our attack. Quite exciting indeed.

But defensively its just a JOKE!!!

What the hell is going on? I trust AW but if he doesn't address this issue then this is got to be a You've been framed/ Gotcha Oscar moment of the century.

Not wishing to have a pop at Hadareud but I've noticed his (shall we call it) "selective" use of stats and arguments during debates too...

Are you a lawyer, H??!!!

I seriouslu doubt wenger made that bid for him. Wenger`s lack of ambition and willingness to settle for mediocrity make me think he did not.
What a shame and disgrace, wenger allowed world class players like owen and Huntelaar go for free or cheaply. He only likes mediocre players like RVP and bendtner, both who are inferior to Ade, who isn`t all that.

Now Wenger says 'We've looked at Hangeland, but we haven't spoken to the club or to the player'

What does that mean exactly Arsene? You've seen him on TV? You saw him in the West End or a picture in the papers?

That is Wenger speak for 'Yes we ought to be interested as he's just the sort of player that could make a huge difference to us but no, we're full of shit and aren't actually going to spend any of that small fortune we've just bought in because our fans are mugs'.

I really really wish Wenger would fuck right off and take his pathetic little lies somewhere else.

Or it is "We had a look at him and don't think he is good enough but don't want to insult a professional player"

Unless we see an actual quote from Zidane from the subject, I don't think we were in for him. If most of our efforts were towards a defensive midfielder then that's fine
