CELTIC THREAD
If arrogance was one of the biggest fears of many on here last week then a 6-1 away win to everton might well increase the chances of that ?
Personally I am a lot more happier going into the game now than I was after watching our defence, and vermaelen in particular, deal with the aerial attack of the toffees on saturday
As I said on sat night I am still quite concerned about our attacking threat up front cos rvp and bedtner were largely disappointing on sat and playing a lone front man with no pace (rvp) on a big pitch is not confidence filling.

hadnt thought about it like that, s'good point. Although i would question how that support would hold up while they were not being at all successfull?augie wrote:I can understand the arguements against certain sections of fans from both old firm teams but I just cannot go along with the belief that both of them would only be at championship level down south. These are 2 massive clubs who are def playing in a mickey mouse league deprived of any serious money. Do people not remember the standard of football in england pre the prem league and all its money ? Just remember back to our midfield with jensen, hillier, mcgoldrick (and we were winning and challenging for trophies then) etc and tell me then that the english league was the best league in europe. You give the old firm teams the type of tv money and sponsorship cash that the premier league clubs get and with 60,000 home attendances every week you would quickly see a turnaround in the quality of both clubs and would def see two teams that would be in the top half of the englsih premier league

Augie makes a good, if obvious point. However, I for one would not wish to travel to London to hear "party songs" and "kitchen sink" chants which are largely unheard anymore in Norn Iron.Clueless_In_Dorset wrote:hadnt thought about it like that, s'good point. yeah both sides have large passionate support but doesn't Newcastle??
You can use the number of fans as a barometer for success and a reason for R+C to come down to The Premier League, just as you can't use a loud, intimidating atmosphere to try and make up for your deficiencies on the pitch.
2-1 Arsenal win I reckon

Celtic haven't exactly been an easy side to deal with in the Champions League in recent history. ManUre could testify that when the Hoops are on their game they are tough enough task.
I'd be happy to take a scoring draw, but think we might just snatch a win, especially with the boys on a high from the weekend.
