DROP ALMUNIA

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Not only did he give away the penalty - needlessly, I might add - but he kept kicking the ball up the pitch to nobody in particular. And it usually ended up being a Manure player.

Lehmann used to distribute to a defender, and we'd then progress from there. Flapping aside, Almunia's distribution is terrible, and we should be looking for someone else immediately. He, and Mike Dean, were the difference between three points and none today.

I'm not saying there isn't any other keeper out there but within the squad?

Two season's ago, Big Jens made TWO MISTAKES and was subsequently dropped.........Remember Pompey's goal last week????
I know, I'm not having a go at you mate.... but there isn't a number 1 keeper within our squad, we've got a number 2, keeper as a number 1, and have had over the last 2 seasons...

Drop almunia ?? Only if it was from an aeroplane 20,000 feet up in the sky and he had no parachute  Seriously the guy isnt good enough at a club like ours that expects to challenge for trophies  Look at his cv and see the level of clubs that he has played for before coming to us for nothing cos celta vigo had no money left to pay us for silvinho  As it has been rightly pointed out, wenger dropped a top quality keeper (lehman) cos of two mistakes a few seasons ago and this guy keeps making them especially in the big games. Old cloughie said once that a good keeper was worth 12 extra points to a team over a season and he wasnt wrong. Why wont we buy a better quality keeper ? Cos we are a tight fisted club hoping to win things on the cheap

I know what you are saying enji but where the fcuk was he going rushing out of his goals like that and why did he commit himself to the tackle with shrek going away from the goals ? Big games are decided on decisions like that as we have seen today

you're right.... Almunia will never make amazing saves, will always make silly mistakes, because he's an average keeper. He'd do well for West Ham, Fulham, Blackburn.. .clubs of that ilk, but not good enough for a side which should be looking to win the CL, League and FA Cup every season.

Saying that, second goal was nothing to do with him.
West Ham have got a better keeper than ours, I'd leave them out of your paragraph.

The amount of times we had a goal kick. Sky would show a highlight and would return to United having possession :banghead: Also why does he insist on hoofing it up the field, with only Robin up there to contest for it? :banghead:

Quick question.

When Giggs played that ball round Gallas, who was asking for the keeper?

I was. Almunia made the right decision but he made it too late. So he did fuck up but I've Sky Plus'd my arse for the last 10 mins and Rooney goes down before Almunia gets close. Cheating if you will. But it was a penner. He had to come. Had to. But not being a top keeper he was slow out.

I fucking hate all this Almunia bashing

He's not the best goalie in the world. But he is far from the worst. His performances have improved, compared to a couple of seasons ago. He's a competent keeper.

Who, in the Prem, is a lot better than him?

Give me some names. Go on.

Agree to a certain extent. Just starting to feel we won't win anything without a top class goalkeeper.
